Pajareando por Monfragüe. Birding around Monfragüe.

Hola una vez más.
Hi again.

In the following link you can see our next national and foreign Birds and Mammals photographic and observation trips. I hope you like them and I encourage you to come with me. An experience that you will not forget.

On this occasion I show you what I was able to photograph on the scheduled trip to  Monfragüe National Park at the beginning of March.

The day was sunny and with very pleasant temperatures.

When we arrived at the first observatory, we could already see an Spanish Imperial Eagle.

We also saw several specimens of Black Vultures.

On the opposite slope passed a group of hinds with their calfs from last spring.

The first Short-toed Eagle that we saw this year.

Several pairs of Griffon Vultures were incubating.

Another Spanish Imperial Eagle that passed us much closer than the one we had seen upon arrival.

This was the only Egyptian Vulture (Neophron percnopterus) we saw all day. It was also the first one we saw this year.

Then we went to the picnic area of the French fountain. There were quite a few passerines in the area. In the photo a Song Thrush.

European Robins were very quiet despite the good day.

This Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus) was bathing.

The following photos were taken by one of the participants in the tour because at the beginning I was entertained with the terrestrial telescope looking for other Birds and I left the camera in the van. Thank you very much Jose Ignacio López León for having sent them to me as well as the video of the Otter and letting me publish them on the blog. In the photo a Great Tit.

Bajaron varios picogordos (Coccothraustes coccothraustes) a beber. En la foto un mach muy bonito. Es una especie que me gusta mucho.
Several Hawfinch came down to drink. In the photo a very beautiful male. It is a species that I like a lot.

Also a beautiful male Common Chafinch.

Our third place was the Salto del Gitano. From its observatory we were able to see our first Black Stork of this year.

The truth is that with the terrestrial telescope it was seen much better than in the photo. In the video it also looks worse than with the telescope, which is where I took it from with my cellular and an adapter.

Vimos también roquero solitario (Monticola solitarius). Todos los que vimos eran machos.
We also saw Blue Rock Thrush. All the ones we saw were males.

Our fourth spot was the castle of Monfragüe to see if we could take pictures of the Vultures in flight at our height. The little wind that there was was not favorable and almost all passed against light.

Las vistas desde el castillo son impresionantes.
Views from the Castle are awesome.

Some photos of Griffon Vultures but not at our height.

Este llevaba el buche bien lleno.
This one had a well-filled crop.

También vimos algunos pinzones vulgares (Fringilla coelebs).
We lso saw several Common Chafinch.

Y petirrojos europeos (Erithacus rubecula).
And European Robin.

And finally, we went back to the viewpoint of the portilla del Tietar and we could see an Eagle Owl incubating in the nest that they usually use every year.

And we really liked being able to see how a European Otter fished and ate the fish. Both the photo of the Owl and this video were taken and transferred for publication by José Ignacio López León.
