Pajareando por España, Doñana. Birding Sapin, Donana.

Hola una vez más.

En esta entrada os enseño lo que pudimos ver en nuestro viaje programado de 4 días durante el puente de primeros de diciembre a la Desembocadura de Río Odiel, Doñana y Brazo del Este. De todos los lugares que visitamos el que mejor estaba era el Brazo del Este. Este año, al estar Doñana casi completamente seco, muchas de sus aves se han trasladado a este otro humedal.
In this post I show you what we could see on our scheduled 4-day trip during a long weekend in early December to the Desembocadura del Río Odiel, Doñana and Brazo del Este. Of all places we visited, the best one was the Brazo del Este. This year, since Doñana is almost completely dry, many of its Birds have gone to this other wetland.

Sin embargo los ánsares comunes (Anser anser) y las grullas comunes (Grus grus) estaban en Doñana.
However Greylag Geese and Common Cranes were at Doñana.

El tiempo fue muy bueno aunque el último día estuvo nublado la mayor parte del día.
The weather was very good although the last day was cloudy most of the day.

He decidido mostraros lo que vimos dividido en los días de la excursión y los lugares que visitamos en cada día.
I have decided to show you what we saw in each day of the trip and the places we visited in all of them.

6 de Diciembre, Doñana:
December 6th, Donana:

Fue el día que tuvimos que ir de Madrid a Sevilla.
It was the day we had to go from Madrid to Seville.

En el camino hicimos un descanso para ver si veíamos una pareja de águilas perdiceras (Aquila fasciata) pero no aparecieron.
On the way we took a break to see if we were able to spot  saw a pair of Bonelli's Eagle but they did not appear.


Pero si vimos algunos buitres negros (Aegypius monachus).
But if we saw some Black Vultures.



Gaviotas reidoras (Chroicocephalus ridibundus).
Black-headed Gulls. 


Un cernícalo vulgar (Falco tinnunculus).
Common Kestrel.


Y por último bastantes cigüeñas blancas (Ciconia ciconia).
And finally many White Storks.


Ya en sevilla empezamos a visitar el Parque Nacional de Doñana. Una garceta grande (Egretta alba).
Already in Seville we begin to visit the Doñana National Park. A Great White Egret.


Vimos varios martinetes comunes (Nycticorax nycticorax). En la foto un juvenile.
We saw several Night Heron. In the photo a juvenile.


Y en esta otra dos adultos.
And in this other one two adults.


Cernícalo vulgar (Falco tinnunculus).
Common Kestrel.


Parecía que era el día internacional del elanio común (Elanus caeruleus).
It seemed to be the international day of the Black-shouldered Kite.


Vimos muchos. Creo recordar que llegamos a los 14 individuos.
We saw many. I think I remember that we reached 14 Birds.



Ya al atardecer vimos un gran número de grullas comunes (Grus grus).
Already at sunset we saw a large number of Common Cranes.

Y después del anochecer cuando regresábamos al hotel pudimos ver dos lechuzas comunes (Tyto alba). El tercer día en el regreso al hotel pudimos ver también otros 11 más pero no pude ni tomar una foto testimonial como esta.
And after dark when we were returning to the hotel we could see two Barn Owls. On the third day on the way back to the hotel we could also see another 11 more but I couldn't even take a testimonial photo like this one.

7 de Diciembre, Desembocadura del Río Odiel:
December 7th, Desembocadura del Río Odiel:


Hice coincidir la visita a este sitio con la pleamar para poder contemplar el mayor número de especies más cerca. En la foto una hembra de tarabilla europea (Saxicola rubicola) hembra.
I made the visit to this site coincide with the high tide to be able to contemplate the largest number of species closer. In the photo a female Common Stonechat.


Había muchos archibebes comunes (Tringa totanus).
There were many Common Redshank.




Correlimos común (Calidris alpina).
Dunlin.



Chorlitejo grande (Charadrius hiaticula).
Great Ringed Plover.


Agujas colinegras (Limosa limosa).
Black-tailed Godwit.


Cerceta común (Anas crecca) macho.
Male Common Teal.


Macho de cuchara común (Espatula clypeata).
Male Northern Shoveler.


Macho de ánade friso (Anas strepera).
Male Gadwall.


Cigüeñuela común (Himantopus himantopus) hembra.

En el centro de la imagen una gaviota de Audouin (Larus audouinii).
In the middle of the photo an Audouin's Gull.


El murete de la salina estaba muy concurrida. En esta foto podéis ver cinco pagazas piquirrojas (Hydroprogne caspia).
The wall of the saline was very busy. In this photo you can see five Caspian Tern.


En esta otra imagen la única gaviota picofina (Chroicocephalus genei) que vimos que además estaba anillada.
In this other image the only Slender-billed Gull that we saw and was also ringed.


Había algunos flamencos comunes (Phoenicopterus ruber) muy pigmentados.
There were some Greater Flamingos very pigmented.


Petirrojo europeo (Erithacus rubecula).

Macho de curruca cabecinegra (Sylvia melanocephala).
Male Sardinian Warbler.


Continuando con el recorrido vimos a este bando de espátulas comunes (Platalea leucorodia).
Continuing the tour we saw this side of Eurasian Spoonbills.


Garceta grande (Egretta alba).
Great White Egret.


Esta estaba anillada.
This was ringed.


Entre estos Archibebes claros (Tringa nebularia) y archibebes comunes (Tringa totanus) hay un vuelvepiedras común (Arenaria interpres), el primero por la izquierda y más pequeño.
Among these Greenshank and Common Redshank there is a Turnstone, the first Bird on the left and the smaller.


También vimos algunos charranes patinegros (Thalasseus sandvicensis).
We also saw some Sandwich Tern.


Andarríos chico (Actitis hypoleucos).
Common Sandpiper.


Había bastantes zarapitos reales (Numenius arquata).
There were many Eurasian Curlew.




Y en menor número zarapito trinador (Numenius phaeopus).
And in a smaller number Whimbrel.


Macho de tarabilla europea (Saxicola rubicola).
Common Stonechat male.

Cisticola buitrón (Cisticola juncidis).
Zitting Cisticola.


Vimos varios ruiseñores pechiazules (Luscinia svecica).
We saw several Bluethroat.



Este fue el ave que más ilusión me hizo ver de todo el viaje, el chorlito dorado europeo (Pluvialis apricaria). Una pena que solo viéramos uno en todo el viaje.
This was the Bird that I like most of the whole trip, the European Golden Plover. A pity we only saw one in the whole trip.

Zampullín cuellinegro (Podiceps nigricollis).

En la desembocadura vimos dos águilas pescadoras (Pandion haliaetusy en ambos casos muy lejos. Lo que me hizo gracia de esta fue que las gaviotas la estaban hostigando para ver si podían quitarle el pez que había capturado.
At the mouth we saw two Ospreys and in both cases far away. What made me funny about this was that this two Seagulls were harassing it to see if they could take away the fish it had fish.




En el centro de la imagen dos chorlitos grises (Pluvialis squatarola) y en los extremos dos correlimos gordos (Calidris canutus).
In the center of the photo two Gray Plovers and at the ends two Red Knot.

Cormoranes grandes (Phalacrocorax carbo).

Archibebe claro (Tringa nebularia).

Después decidimos darnos una vuelta por las lagunas de agua dulce que hay cerca de la desembocadura. En la primera de ellas estaba esta águila pescadora (Pandion haliaetus). No pudimos ver mas cosas pues la puerta que da acceso al observatorio estaba cerrada.
Then we decided to take a walk through the freshwater lagoons near the mouth. In the first one was this Osprey. We could not see more things because the door that gives access to the observatory was locked.


La segunda de las lagunas estaba muy entretenida aunque la noche se nos echaba encima. Vimos varios martines pescadores comunes (Alcedo atthis).
The second of the lagoons was very well although night was coming. We saw several common kingfishers (Alcedo atthis).


Y varios avetorillos comunes (Ixobrychus minutus).
As well as several Little Bittern.




Había una hembra de silbón europeo (Anas penelope).
There was a female of Eurasian Wigeon.


Y varios calamones comunes (Porphyrio porphyrio).
And several Purple Swamp-hen.


8 de Diciembre, Doñana:
December 8th, Donana:


Comenzamos el dia en El Rocío. Que pena da ver Doñana tan seca.
We start the day at El Rocío. What a shame to see Doñana so dry.


Ni una gota de agua.
Not a drop of water.


No estuvimos mucho tiempo pues no había muchas cosas que ver al no haber agua. Un grupo de estrildas comunes (Estrilda astrild).
We weren't very long since there weren't many things to see as there was no water. A group of Common Waxbill. 



Este alcaudón real meridional (Lanius meridionalis). 
This Southern Grey Shrike.


Algunas bisbitas pratenses (Anthus pratensis).
Several Meadow Pipit.


Y este bonito colirrojo tizón (Phoenicurus ochruros) macho.
And this beautiful male Black Redstart.



Después nos fuimos al centro de interpretación del Acebuche para hacer una visita a los linces ibéricos (Lynx pardinus) que hay en un recinto cerrado.
Then we went to the Acebuche interpretation center to visit the Iberian lynx in an enclosed area.


Aunque no estuvieron muy activos.
Although they were not very active.





Cuando finalizamos la visita y al no haber agua en la laguna nos desplazamos hasta el centro de interpretación de La Rocina que era el único que tenía algo de agua. En la foto una pareja de silbones europeos (Anas penelope).
When we finished the visit and as there was no water in the lagoon, we moved to the interpretation center of La Rocina, which was the only one that had some water. In the photo a pair of Eurasian Wigeon.

Agachadiza común (Gallinago gallinago).

Este aguilucho lagunero occidental (Circus aeruginosus) no paraba de espantar a un grupo de cigüeñuelas comunes (Himantopus himantopus).
This Eurasian Marsh Harrier kept frightening a group of Himantopus himantopus.

The Black-winged Stilt.


Macho de pinzón vulgar  (Fringilla coelebs).
Male Common Chaffinch.


Un grupo de moritos comunes (Plegadis falcinellus).
A flock of Glossy Ibis.


Al medio día atravesaos todo el Parque Nacional pues queríamos llegar antes del atardecer al Centro de Interpretación José Antonio Valverde. Había muy pocas aves y las que vimos estaban cerca de las pocas fuentes de agua que había.
At noon, we cross the entire National Park because we wanted to arrive before sunset at the José Antonio Valverde Interpretation Center. There were very few Birds and the ones we saw were close to the few water sources there were.
En la foto cigüeñas negras (Ciconia nigra) de diferentes edades, espátulas comunes (Platalea leucorodia), garzas reales (Ardea cinerea) y una garceta grande (Egretta alba). 
In the photo Black Storks of different ages, Eurasian Spoonbills, Grey Herons and a Great White Egret.


También vimos tres meloncillos (Herpestes ichneumon).
We also saw three Egyptian Mongoose.


Tanto en la laguna del Centro como en los campos de alrededor había muchos ánsares comunes (Anser anser).
In the lagoon of the Center and in the surrounding fields there were many Greylag Geese.





Algunos cucharas comunes (Espatula clypeata). En la foto una hembra.

Calamón común (Porphyrio porphyrio).
Purple Swamp-hen.


Urraca (Pica pica).
Common Magpie.


Y el atardecer fue espectacular. Muchísimos ánsares comunes (Anser anser) y grullas comunes (Grus grus) acudieron al dormidero. Además el cielo se puso increíblemente hermoso.
And sunset was awesome. Many common Greylag Geese and Common Cranes went to the roost. In addition the sky became incredibly beautiful.




Un vídeo de la entrada. Miles de ellos se protegieron en la laguna para pasar la noche.
A video of the coming Gesse. Thousands of them protected themselves in the lagoon to spend the night.

9 de Diciembre, Brazo del Este:
December 9th, Brazo del Este:

Este día fue sin lugar a dudas el más sorprendente del viaje.
This day was without a doubt the most surprising of the trip.


Antes de acudir al Brazo del Este fuimos a una laguna en la que me habían dicho que se podían ver fochas morunas (Fulica cristata). Había un grupo de ánsares comunes (Anser anser) y uno de ellos presentaba esta mutación de color.
Before going to Brazo del Este we went to a lagoon where they had told me that you could see Red-knobbed Coot. There was a group of Greylag Geese and one of them had a color mutation.


Este es el color nominal.
This is the nominal color.


Y este el mutado.
And this is the mutated one.


También había cigüeñuelas comunes (Himantopus himantopus).
There were also Black-winged Stilts.


Cucharas comunes (Espatula clypeata).
Northern Shovelers.


Patos criollos (Cairina moschata domestica).
Muscovy Duck.


Y las fochas morunas (Fulica cristata). En total vimos tres. Dos de ellas anilladas y una sin ella.
And the Red-knobbed Coot. We saw three. Two of them ringed and one without it.


Fue una pena que el día estuviese nublado.
It was a shame that the day was cloudy.







Garza real (Ardea cinerea).
Grey Heron.


Mosquitero común (Phylloscopus collybita).
Common Chiffchaff.



Ya en el Brazo del Este. A la entrada había una gran concentración de cigüeñas blancas (Ciconia ciconia) y el primer bando de moritos comunes (Plegadis falcinellus).
Already in Brazo del Este. At the entrance there was a large concentration of White Storks and the first flock of Glossy Ibis.


Un poco más adelante un inmenso bando de flamencos comunes (Phoenicopterus ruber). Nunca había visto tantos en este parque natural. Debía ser que al no haber agua en Doñana muchos de ellos se habían trasladado a este cercano lugar.
A little further on there were a huge flock of Greater flamingos. I had never seen so many in this Natural Park. It must be that since there was no water in Doñana, many of them had moved to this nearby place.


Y lo mismo ocurría con los moritos comunes (Plegadis falcinellus). Había miles de ambas especies.
And the same happened with the Glossy Ibis. There were thousands of both species.



Es muy difícil plasmar en fotos lo que pudimos ver. Era sobrecogedor.
It is very difficult to capture what we could see in photos. It was overwhelming.





En este video se puede ver un poco lo que pudimos observar. No lo olvidaremos nunca.
In this video you can see some of what we could watch. We will never forget it.


También vimos un águila calzada (Aquila pennata) morfo claro.
We also saw a pale morpho Booted Eagle.


Por los carrizos se podían ver gran cantidad de mosquiteros comunes (Phylloscopus collybita).
Large numbers of Common Chiffchaff could be seen in the reeds.


De las especies invasoras vimos muchos tejedores de cabeza negra (Ploceus melanocephalus). En está época del año no tiene el bonito plumaje nupcial.
Of the invasive species we saw many Black-headed Weaver. At this time of the year they do not not have the beautiful nuptial plumage.




Y en menor número a los tejedores amarillos (Euplectes afer).
And in smaller numbers the Yellow-crowned Bishop.


Con tanta cantidad de aves no me extrañó ver a un halcón peregrino (Falco peregrinusmerodeando por la zona.
With so many Birds I was not surprised to see a peregrine falcon hanging around the area.

Gorrión moruno (Passer hispaniolensis) macho.
Male Spanish Sparrow.

Jilguero europeo (Carduelis carduelis).
European Goldfinch.


Como de costumbre también abundaban las cigüeñuelas comunes (Himantopus himantopus).
As usual, Black-winged Stilt also abounded.





Espátulas comunes (Platalea leucorodia).
Eurasian Spoonbill.


En este otro grupo todas eran juveniles.
In this other group they were all juveniles.



Cormoranes grandes (Phalacrocorax carbo).
Great Cormorants.


También había un gran bando de cercetas comunes (Anas crecca).
There was also a large flock of Common Teal.


Rápidas y preciosas aves.
Fast and beautiful Birds.



Otra especie muy abundante pero que no me chocó ver en el Parque, pues los he visto en otros inviernos, fueron los calamones comunes (Porphyrio porphyrio).
Another species very abundant but that I was not shocked to see in the Park, since I have seen them in other winters, were the Purple Swamp-hen.





Había muchos subidos en los tarayes.
There were many climbed on the bushes.


Esos puntos negros son ellos y no están todos lo que había en esta zona.
Those blackheads are them and they are not all what we could see in this area.


Ruiseñor pechiazul (Luscinia svecica).
Bluethroat.


Luego nos fuimos a la zona donde se ven habitualmente más garcillas cangrejeras (Ardeola ralloides). Tuvimos suerte y pudimos ver algunas. Esta es la que más escondida estaba.
Then we went to the area where you can see more Squacco Heron. We were lucky and we could see some. This is the most hidden one.

Garcilla bueyera (Bubulcus ibis) que a falta de buey buenas son ovejas.
Cattle Egret which, in the absence of a good Ox, good is a Sheep.



Avefría europea (Vanellus vanellus).
Northern Lapwing.


Otra ave que encuentro que es preciosa. Si es que al final me gustan todas y mucho.
Another bird that I find is beautiful. If in the end I like them all very much.
