En esta ocasión os muestro lo que pude fotografiar en el viaje que hicimos al Parque Nacional de Everglades en Florida y en algunos parques públicos de Miami del 10 al 18 de febrero.
This time I show you what I was able to photograph on the trip we made to Everglades National Park in Florida and in some public parks in Miami from February 10 to 18.
El tiempo fue muy bueno y con unas temperaturas muy agradables, con máximas de 28 ºC. y mínimas de 20 ºC.
The weather was very good and with very pleasant temperatures, with maximums of 28 ºC. and minimums of 20 ºC.
En esta segunda parte fuimos a varios Parque de Miami y de los tres días siguientes, a la zona norte del parque y el último repetimos las zonas que más nos habían gustado de la zona sur que estaba más cercana al hotel.

Nuestro primer punto de destino fue Grandon Park en Cayo Vizcaino. En el camino de ida hasta allí pasamos por sitios muy bonitos y con una vegetación exuberante. En el parque había muchas auras gallipavo (Cathartes aura).
Our first stop was Grandon Park in Key Biscayne. On the way there we passed through very beautiful places with lush vegetation. There were many Turkey Vulture in the Park.
Un parque realmente bonito y además con una gran playa en donde queríamos ver especies costeras.
A really nice Park with a great beach where we wanted to spot shore species.
Más aura gallipavo (Cathartes aura).

Una enorme iguana rayada (Ctenosaura similis).
A huge Black Spiny-tailed Iguana.
Pero eran más abundantes las iguanas verdes (Iguana iguana).
But Green Iguanas were more abundant.
Me hizo mucha ilusión poder ver y fotografiar por primera vez el picamaderos norteamericano (Dryocopus pileatus).
I was very excited to see and photograph the Pileated Woodpecker.
Era una hembra muy confiada.
She was a very trusting female.
Había varias parejas de gansos del Nilo (Alopochen aegyptiaca). Una especie invasora proveniente de África.
There were several pairs of Egyptian Goose. An invasive species from Africa.
Una de ellas tenia cuatro crías.
One of them had four goslings.
Otra especie que no había visto antes, una grulla canadiense (Antigone canadensis).
Another species I hadn't seen before, a Sandhill Crane.
Según nos contó un ranger, había llegado una pareja y que la hembra estaba enferma. Al morir ésta, el macho se quedó en el parque. Se había amansado y seguía a la gente por el parque.
According to what a ranger told us, a couple had arrived and the famle was sick. When she died, the male stayed in the Park. He had calmed down and was following people through the Park.
En los varios estanque que había por el parque, pudimos ver otras especies de aves como esta garceta tricolor (Egretta tricolor).
In the various ponds in the Park, we were able to see other species of Birds such as this Tricolored Heron.
Ibis blanco (Eudocimus albus).
White Ibis.
Zampullín picogrueso (Podilymbus podiceps).
Pied-billed Grebe.
Y también había varios cocodrilos americanos (Crocodylus acutus).
And there were also several American Crocodiles.
En uno de los estanques había varias tortugas de caparazón blando de Florida (Apalone ferox).
In one of the ponds were several Florida Softshell Turtles.
Gallineta americana (Gallinula galeata).
Common Gallinule.
Garceta azul (Egretta caerulea).
Little Blue Heron.
Una hembra de martín gigante norteamericano (Megaceryle alcyon).
A Belted Kingfisher female.
Por último, dimos un paseo por la playa.
Lastly, we took a walk on the beach.
Había correlimos tridáctilo (Calidris alba).
There were Sanderling.
Chorlitejo semipalmeado (Charadrius semipalmatus).
Semipalmated Plovers.
La primera vez que veía y fotografiaba esta especie.
The first time I saw and photographed this species.
Correlimos menudillo (Calidris minutilla). Es el ave playera más pequeña.
Least Sandpiper. It is the smallest shorebird.
Chorlitejo silvador (Charadrius melodus). Otra ave que no había visto y fotografiado.
Piping Plover. Another Bird that I had not seen and photographed.
Había bastantes charranes reales americanos (Thalasseus maximus).
There were quite a few Royal Terns.
Gaviota Guanaguanare (Leucophaeus atricilla).
Laughing Gull.
Después del almuerzo nos fuimos hasta Black Point Park and Marina. En la foto un carpintero de Carolina (Melanerpes carolinus) hembra.
After lunch we went to Black Point Park and Marina. In the photo a female Red-bellied Woodpecker.

En la marina había un grupo de pelícanos pardos (Pelecanus occidentalis). En la foto un adulto.

Y para finalizar la jornada nos fuimos hasta el final del recorrido del Black Creek Trail. En la foto una hembra de chupasavia norteño (Sphyrapicus varius).
And to finish the day we went to the end of the Black Creek Trail. In the photo a female Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.

A pretty Northern Tropical Buckeye.

There were many Turkey Vultures.
Un adulto de garza azulada occidental (Ardea herodias occidentalis). Esta subespecie e blanca en lugar de azul.
An adult Great Blue Heron (occidentalis). This subspecies is white instead of blue.

Teníamos dos días para la zona norte del Parque Nacional pero como el segundo sitio de visita, Shark
Valley Observation Tower y que iba a llevarnos 3 horas la visita, estaba con cola de acceso por afluencia de mucho publico, decidimos continuar al siguiente punto. Al final del día decidimos que ya habíamos visitado las zonas más importantes de la zona norte y al día siguiente preferimos irnos a recorrer los lugares que más nos habían gustado de la zona sur que es mucho más salvaje que la norte.
We had two days for the northern area of the National Park but since the second site of visit, Shark Valley Observation Tower, which was going to take us 3 hours to visit, was with a queue for access due to the influx of a lot of people, we decided to continue to the next point. At the end of the day we decided that we had already visited the most important areas of the northern area and the next day we preferred to go and visit the places that we liked the most in the southern area, which is much wilder than the northern area.
En nuestro primer paseo nos encontramos con esta bonita mariposa, la dama pintada americana (Vanessa virginiensis).
On our first walk we came across this pretty butterfly, the American Painted Lady.
Un bonito macho de cardenal norteño (Cardinalis cardinalis).

Macho de zenate marismeño (Quiscalus major).
Boat-tailed Grackle male.

Después del paseo hicimos una parada en el Oasis Visitor Center. En la foto una tántalo americano (Mycteria americana).
After the walk we made a stop at the Oasis Visitor Center. In the photo a Wood Stork.
Y muchos aligátor americanos (Alligator mississippiensis).
And many American Alligarors.
También pasaron bastantes espátulas rosadas (Platalea ajaja).
Quite a few Roseate Spoonbills also passed by.
Teníamos muchas ganas de verlas pues en la zona sur no habíamos visto ninguna. Sin embargo, este día vimos muchas y en varios sitios de los que visitamos.
We really wanted to see them because we had not seen any in the southern area. However, this day we saw many and in various places we visited.
Los adultos en plumaje reproductor son muy bonitos.
Adults in breeding plumage are very pretty.
Luego hicimos el recorrido por Kirby Storter Roadside Park. En la foto una garceta grande (Ardea alba).
Then we made the Kirby Storter Roadside Park trail. In the photo a Great Egret.
Un bonito macho de anhinga americana (Anhinga anhinga).
A beautiful male Anhinga.
En el recorrido pudimos ver esta Culebra de Agua de la Florida (Nerodia fasciata pictiventris). Fue la única serpiente que vimos en todo el viaje y no es venenosa.
On the trail we were able to see this Florida Banded Water Snake. It was the only snake we saw on the entire trip and it is not poisonous.
Martinete común (Nycticorax nycticorax). El único que vimos en todo el viaje.
Black-crowned Night Heron. The only one we saw on the entire trip.
En HP Williams Roadside Park había otras dos espátulas rosadas (Platalea ajaja).
At HP Williams Roadside Park there were two other Roseate Spoonbills.
Una anhinga americana (Anhinga anhinga) hembra/inmaduro.
An Anhinga female/immature.
Mosquitero fibí (Sayornis phoebe).
Eastern Phoebe.
Aligátor americano (Alligator mississippiensis).
American Alligaror.
Un azor americano (Accipiter atricapillus).
American goshawk.
Aunque habíamos visto muchos en el camino posados en los cables y en los árboles, no fue hasta aquí que pudimos fotografiar al martín gigante norteamericano (Megaceryle alcyon). En este caso es un macho.
Although we had seen many along the way perched on cables and in trees, it was not until here that we were able to photograph the Belted Kingfisher. In this case it is a male.
Un bonito tántalo americano (Mycteria americana).
A pretty Wood Stork.
En el camino hacia Everglades City volvimos a ver otro grupo de espátulas rosadas (Platalea ajaja).
On the way to Everglades City we saw another group of Roseate Spoonbills.
Entre ellas había algunos ibis blancos (Eudocimus albus).
Among them were some White Ibis.
La marina de Everglades City.

A la entrada del pueblo, vimos un grupo de chorlitejos culirrojos (Charadrius vociferus).
At the entrance to the village, we saw a group of Killdeer.
También había algunos pelícanos pardos (Pelecanus occidentalis).
There were also some Brown Pelicans.
Gaviota de Delaware ( Larus delawarensis).
Ring-billed Gull.
Zopilote negro (Coragyps atratus).
Black Vulture.
Cuando regresábamos al hotel, decidimos volver a detenernos en HP Williams Roadside Park pues habiamos visto un martín gigante norteamericano (Megaceryle alcyon) y queríamos ver si lo podíamos sacar desde mas cerca.
When we returned to the hotel, we decided to stop again at HP Williams Roadside Park because we had seen a Belted Kingfisher and we wanted to see if we could photograph it closer.
Había varias garzas en esta zona. En la foto una garceta grande (Ardea alba).
There were several herons in this area. In the photo a Great Egret.

Garceta nívea (Egretta thula).
Snowy Egret.
Y un macho de martín gigante norteamericano (Megaceryle alcyon) que permitió que nos acercásemos más que el que habíamos visto por la mañana.
And a Belted Kingfisher male that allowed us to get closer than the one we had seen in the morning.

En nuestro último día de estancia en USA, decidimos recorrer los lugares que más nos habían gustado cuando visitamos la zona sur de Everglades. Muchas de las aves que vimos no las fotografíe pues ya había sacado muchas. Además, esta parte del Parque nos quedaba mejor para antes de ir al aeropuerto pasar por el hotel a recoger las maletas.
On our last day of stay in the USA, we decided to visit the places that we had liked the most when we visited the southern Everglades. I did not photograph many of the Birds we saw because I had already taken many. Furthermore, this part of the Park was better for us to stop by the hotel to pick up our suitcases before going to the airport.

En todos los lugares se podían ver esta bonita libélula, el banderín de Halloween (Celithemis eponina).
Everywhere you could see this pretty dragonfly, Halloween Pennant.
El Royal Palm Visitor Center es un sitio muy bonito y can bastantes aves. Da gusto pasearse por sus pasarelas sobre el agua.
Royal Palm Visitor Center is a very beautiful place and has quite a few birds. It is a pleasure to walk along its walkways over water.
Había varios machos de sargento alirrojo (Agelaius phoeniceus).
There were several Red-winged Blackbird males.
Cuando cantan es cuando mejor puedes ver los colores de sus plumas coberteras.
When they sing is when you can best see the colors of their covert feathers.
Una lejana hembra de picamaderos norteamericano (Dryocopus pileatus).
A distant Pileated Woodpecker female.
Los bonitos calamoncillos americanos (Porphyrio martinica).

Luego nos fuimos hasta Coot Bay Pond en donde pasaban muchas aves volando. EN la foto un tántalo americano (Mycteria americana).
Then we went to Coot Bay Pond where many birds were flying by. IN the photo a Wood Stork.

Volvimos a ver muchos pelícanos norteamericanos (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos).
We again saw many American White Pelican.
En Eco Pond lo más destacado fue esta hembra de reinita coronada (Setophaga coronata).
At Eco Pond the highlight was this femaleYellow-rumped Warbler.
En la marina de Flamingo ya se veían los tres pollos del nido que tienen las águilas pescadoras (Pandion haliaetus).
In the Flamingo Marina, the three chicks from the nest that the Ospreys have were already visible.
Chorlito gris (Pluvialis squatarola).
Black-bellied Plover.
Y por último nos fuimos a hacer el Christian Point Trail. Como se nos había hecho un poco tarde no lo hicimos entero pero mereció la pena la parada. En la foto una garcilla verde (Butorides virescens).
And lastly we went to do the Christian Point Trail. As we were a little late we didn't do the whole trail but it was worth the stop. In the photo a Green Heron.
Este macho de azulillo sietecolores (Passerina ciris) fue por lo que os decía que había merecido la parada. Aunque habíamos visto uno por la mañana, a mi no me dio tiempo de fotografiarle.
This male Painted Bunting was, as I told you, worth the stop. Although we had seen one in the morning, I didn't have time to photograph it.
Era una nueva especie para mi y me hizo mucha ilusión poder verle. Las fotos no son buenas pero la observación fue muy buena pues estuvo bastante tiempo comiendo en los árboles cerca nuestro.
It was a new species for me and I was very excited to see it. The photos are not good but the observation was very good because it spent quite some time eating in the trees clese to us.
Y en el paseo vimos este gran aligátor americano (Alligator mississippiensis).
And on the walk we saw this big American Alligarors.
