In the following link you can see our next national and foreign Birds and Mammals photographic and observation trips. I hope you like them and I encourage you to come with me. An experience that you will not forget.

This week I show you what I could photograph on a trip to the Aran Valley. Instead of skiing, I preferred to take two walks.

I really wanted to see if I could photograph a Bird that only comes in winter to Madrid and is quite scarce and is called Goldcrest. I already had pictures of this tiny bird, the smallest in Europe, but you can always improve what you have. I was lucky and I succeeded, I improve the ones I already had.

In one of the villages I visited, there was a pair of White-throated Dipper that was very busy making a nest under one of the bridges that crossed the Garonne River as it passed through this town.

Nobody was aware of them and people looked at me like saying, what will that guy do there with the camera? The only thing they told me, as on many other occasions, that with that photographic equipment you can already take good pictures, right? People think that good photos are taken with a good team but Bird photos require more than a good camera and len.

I spent more than an hour watching them.

These are the photos that I could take to the small and restless Goldcrest.

Son preciosos.
They are very pretty.

I continued with my walk and met another little one, the Winter Wren. In this case I could first hear it and then see and photograph. It seems incredible how loud this little Bird sings.

And this was all I could photograph on the first walk.

The second day the walk was higher altitude and in the snow.

There were many Citril Finches but only this male wanted to be photographed.

Common Crossbill were very singing. I only saw two females and many males like the one in the photo.

Estaban preciosos.
They were very beautiful.

There were three bonebreakers there but far away. Two immature and one adult.

Este fue el adulto.
This one was the adult.

Lavandera blanca (Motacilla alba).
White Wagtail.

I also enjoyed watching a pair of Golden Eagles.

También había muchos zorzales charlos (Turdus viscivorus).
There were many Mistle Thrush.

Almost at the end of the walk I found many Eurasian Siskin. In the photo a male.

And more Common Crossbill males. In this photo the you can see very well its crossbill.

And with this pretty male I say goodbye to all of you until the next post. See you soon.

Pajareando por España, Monfragüe. Spain Birding, Monfrague.

Hola una vez más.
Hi again.

In the following link you can see our next national and foreign Birds and Mammals photographic and observation trips. I hope you like them and I encourage you to come with me. An experience that you will not forget.

This week I show you some photos that I could take on a private day trip to the National Park of Monfragüe.

If you still do not know it or want to go with an expert, do not hesitate to hire our next trip to this magnificent place. In the following link you can find all the information about it: Monfragüe March 28.

The day began with fog and cloudy and at noon the sun appears and we enjoyed a sunny afternoon.

Around the National Park there were several flocks Common Cranes.

The first thing we saw when we reached our first observation point was a pair of Spanish Imperial Eagles in courtship flights.

Immediately, one of them decided that it was the day to disturb Griffon Vultures.

Nothing usually happens but watching it is awesome.

They kept marking their territory with their flights.

Meanwhile griffon vultures were leaving their roosts in search of food.

What a bad day one of the Spanish Imperial Eagle had.

It is a pity that the day was so claudy because photos as good as in sunny days.

A splash in the water caught my attention and I could immediately locate a couple of Eurasian Otter.

Me encantan estos mustélidos.
I love these mustelids.

Aquí llega de nuevo el malhumorado.
Here comes again the quarrelsome.

Then we decided to move to another of the observatories of the Park. Over there was this Blackcap male.

Algunos buitres leonados (Gyps fulvus) estaban acondicionando sus nidos.
Some griffon vultures were conditioning their nests.

In the sky we saw a couple of arrows that turned out to be a pair of Peregrine Falcons.

Then it was time for lunch. As soon as we sat down and took out the sandwiches this Blue Tit arrived very inquisitive to see if he could participate with us but of our lunch.

Y las mismas intenciones traían algunos carboneros comunes (Parus major).
And same thoughts had some Great Tits.

We saw several Blue Rock Thrush but I only photographed males.

Although it is not surprising because they are more striking than females.

This was the closest we had although it was at backlit.

And meanwhile Griffon Vultures kept coming and going.

When we were tired of being in that place we decided to go take pictures of the Griffon Vultures that could flight at our height. The first thing that did this was a pair of Common Ravens.

Very few Black Vultures passed and this was the only one I could photograph.

However, Griffon Vultures behaved very well even though wind direction was not the most favorable for them to flying where we were.

There was also a pretty Black Redstart male.

Y algunas Vulcanas (Vanessa atalanta).
And several Red Admiral.

And when we decided to return to Madrid we made a brief stop at the first observatory we were in the morning and it was the same. A Spanish imperial Eagle harassing Griffon Vultures.

And in the end it settled on one of his favorite watchtowers. No wonder it had to be very tired.

Hasta pronto.
See you soon.
