This week I show you what we could see on a scheduled trip to see the Iberian lynx through Andújar  in early January.

The trip was three days from January 11 to 13. The weather was very good, dry and sunny, and we could see the Iberian Lynx although very briefly and far away.

11 de enero:
January 11th:

In this magnificent setting is where we waited to see the Lynx.

As we had left Madrid we arrived in Andújar at 12:30. The first thing we saw was and this group of Fallow Deer males.

In one of the farms a small dog was chasing a group of Red Deer among them were two females of European Mouflon.

A little later we find a group of Stags.

Con que facilidad saltaron la valla. Sin tan siquiera coger carrerilla.
How easily they jumped the fence. Without even taking a run.

Unos ejemplares estupendos.
Great specimens.

Already at our point of waiting for the Iberian Lynx we saw this Common Buzzard.

Vimos bastantes aviones roqueros (Ptyonoprogne rupestris).
We saw quite a few Crag Martins.

This was the only Wild Boar we saw.

At sunset we went to listen to Eagle Owl sing because seeing it is more difficult. When we arrived we saw several female Spanish Ibex.

Escribano montesino (Emberiza cia).
Rock Bunting.

In such a beautiful place with the moon illuminating everything and with the song of the eagle owl in the background is a difficult time to forget.

12 de enero:
January 12th:

This day instead of common deer those who were going to allow us to photograph them jumping were the Fallow Deers.

Waiting for the lynx, this Common Wood Pigeon caught my eye.

A video of the Common Wood Pigeon with its song.

We saw Spanish Imperial Eagles every day but always far away.

A video of a pretty Stag browsing.

And at the end of the afternoon we could see the Iberian lynx although only for a moment and something away. It is on top of a stone on the left side.

13 de enero:
January 13th:

Tuvimos mala suerte pues no apareció ninguna.
Our last day of the trip began with fog in search of Eurasian Otter. We had bad luck because none appeared.

Mientras esperábamos pudimos ver gorriones chillones (Petronia petronia).
While we waited we could see Rock Sparrows.

Another one.

When we were going to  our observation point to try to watch the Iberian Lynx again, in a picnic area we saw this European Nuthatch.

También vimos varios pico picapinos (Dendrocopos major).
We also saw several Great Spotted Woodpeckers.

And a great flock of Iberian Magpie.

I love to see the bullfighting Bulls in the Sierra de Andújar.

Vimos bastantes mitos (Aegithalus caudatus).
We saw several Long-tailed Tit.

On this trip neither Black Vultures,

nor Griffon Vultures passed close. They were all quite high.

This juvenile was the one who passed lowest.

And with these photos of Red Deer I say goodbye to all of you until the next post.
