Hola una vez más.
Hi again.

In the following link you can see our next national and foreign Birds and Mammals photographic and observation trips. I hope you like them and I encourage you to come with me. An experience that you will not forget.

This blog is about our organized trip to watch, mainly, the Dupont´s Lark and the Black-eared Wheatear.

For this I chose to go in the morning to the Hoces del Duratón and in the afternoon to the Hoces del río Riaza.

The weather was good but were not enough luck as far as the Dupont´s Lark that we did not see it despite having heard it repeatedly and in one of them really close.

MAÑANA:
MORNING:

It's nice to be able to take the Thekla Lark so close, even from the van.

And also this male Cirl Bunting was taken from the van. Thank you friend for holding our presence so close.

Although we saw several Common Cuckoos this female reddish phase caught my eye because you can not see it very often. I think it's the third one I see in my life.

This phase does not occur in males.

In this Spanish Juniper you can see a Woodchat Shrike in the upper part and a Common Whitethroat.

Alcaudón común (Lanius senator).
Woodchat Shrike.

Preciosa ave.
Beautiful Bird.

Vimos varias terreras comunes (Calandrella brachydactyla).
We saw several Short-toed Lark.

Pero esta fue la que más aguantó.
But this was the one that was closer.

As we spent a lot of time trying to spot the Dupont´s Lark  I could not get more pictures of the Birds of this place.

La ermita de San Frutos. Un bello edificio en un maravilloso escenario.
The hermitage of San Frutos. A beautiful building in a wonderful setting.

TARDE:
AFTERNOON:

They are very good the Spanish Junipers area that are reaching the Hoces del Río RIaza. In the photo a Wood Lark.

A beautiful specimen of European Bee-eater.

Un macho de roquero rojo (Monticola saxatilis).
A male Rock Thrush.

Otra toma un poco más cercana.
Another shot a little closer.

Y esta es su hembra.
And this is his female.

The beautiful Black-eared Wheatear. ictured a male. In the photo a male with a dark throat like all the ones we saw.

This common Rufous Nightingale took a little while to get used to us.

Pero luego resultó ser muy descarado.
But then it turned out to be very cheeky.

Me parece que le estoy oyendo cantar.
I think I'm hearing him sing.

Un canto muy fuerte y
A very strong song and

muy bonito. Tal vez el que más me gusta.
very pretty. Maybe the one I like the most.

Not far from there we could watch this Melodious Warbler.

That as usual, it did not want to leave its bush.

Male Common Stonechat that as you can see he was carrying food to his chicks.

Hembra.
Female.

Vimos varios corzos (Capreolus capreolus).
We saw several roe deer.

As expected, this male stopped before getting lost behind the hill.

Una hembra.
A female.

Vimos varias currucas tomilleras (Sylvia conspicillata).
We saw several Spectacled Warblers.

But all males so I think that they were incubating.

There were also plenty of Western Bonelli's Warblers on the river banks.

And finally we arrived at what is, in my point of view, the most beautiful place in this Natural Park.

Well, this photo of this Griffon Vulture with its chick belongs to the nesting area that is next to the town.

I leave you a video of this same Birds.

During our stay in these Gorges we only saw a Egyptian Vulture. It is a pity the decline that this species is suffering.

Había bastantes chovas piquirrojas (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax).
There were many Red-billed Chough.

Y muchísimos buitres leonados (Gyps fulvus).
And plenty Griffon Vultures.

After spending a long time contemplating the coming and going of the Griffon Vultures in Peña Portillo we decided to return to the van to come back to Madrid.

On the way back it flew over this Common Cuckoo.

También vimos bastantes escribanos trigueros (Miliaria calandra).
We also saw quite a few Corn Buntings.

And finally we saw this beautiful male of Common Linnet.

Hasta pronto.
See you soon.
