In the following link you can see our next national and foreign Birds and Mammals photographic and observation trips. I hope you like them and I encourage you to come with me. An experience that you will not forget.

This post is from our scheduled trip to the province of Soria to see and photograph the Eleonora's Falcon that before going to their breeding places spends a few days feeding on insects in the Peninsular interior.

This Falcon is of medium size and has a wingspan of 95 centimeters and a length of 40 centimeters. It is a summer visitor and reproduces on coastal cliffs. In Spain it reproduces in the Balearic Islands, Columbretes Islands and Canary Islands. It is a great traveler because during winter it lives in Madagascar, Mauritius and Reunion. It has a diet mainly insectivorous except during reproduction in which Birds abound and also some reptiles are present. Its coloration is not uniform showing several mophs.

Until the end of July or the beginning of August, its reproduction does not begin, which makes it coincide with the postnuptial migratory Birds, which makes it easier to feed their chicks. They reproduce in colonies.

The weather was good and not very hot.

This is a specimen of intermediate morph and the one that I liked most of all we saw and photographed.

Shortly after arriving at the site I had chosen to spend the day in search of this beautiful Bird, we could already see a dark morpho.

Y este otro de morfo claro.
And this other pale morpho.

In this video you can see both morphs and their singing.

There was also this light morpho Booted Eagle.

Then I decided to take the tour of other years to see if the Falcons were where other years. And there they were. I have already shown you the morphs that this species presents although there are variations that may be lighter or darker. In the photo a dark.

Pálido.
Pale.

We continue with the tour because at noon Falcons get into the Pine Trees to rest and it is more difficult to locate them. In the photo a male Red-backed Shrike.

No vimos a la hembra pues debía estar incubando.
We did not see the female because she must be incubating.

This Corn Bunting was very tame and we had him very close.

Although they are very beautiful, it is the least pretty of the Buntings that we can watch in Spain.

Os dejo este video con su canto.
I leave this video with his song.

You can also see many Rock Sparrows.

They were with chicks as can be seen by the insects they carry in their beaks.

Había varias parejas de collalbas grises (Oenanthe oenanthe). En la foto un macho.
There were several pairs of Northern Wheatears. In the photo a male.

This juvenile had a good wound on his left thigh but it didn't seem to affect it much.

It is also a good place to watch Yellow Wagtails. In the photo a male.

For lunch we stop in a shadow where there are some irrigation streams. In the photo a Dragonfly.

Lirios amarillos (Iris pseudacorus).

We saw two males of Eurasian Marsh Harrier.

And when the heat began to fall we returned in search of the Eleonora's Falcons.

Algunos gorriones chillones más (Petronia petronia).
Some more Rock Sparrows.

They carried a great variety of insects to their chicks.

I have already presented these to you before.

We saw some Golden Oriole but very hidden. The camera refused to focus on this.

Y a ver quién es el guapo que ve esta.
And who can see this?

Solo vimos a este alcotán europeo (Falco subbuteo).
We only saw this Hobby.

And the last Eleonora Falcons.

En esta ocasión todos de morfo oscuro.
On this occasion all dark morpho.

The truth is that it was a very good day with so many sightings.

Al atardecer vimos varios aceiteras comunes (Berberomeloe majalis).
At sunset we saw several Red-striped Oil Beetle.

Y a este precioso corzo macho (Capreolus capreolus).
And this beautiful buck Roe Deer.

This afternoon Falcons did not choose the area where we were to go out to feed on Cockchafer so we decided to return to Madrid and on the way back we saw several Sky Larks.

Y esto ha sido todo amigos. Hasta pronto.
And this has been all friends. See you soon.
