En este blog os muestro lo que pude fotografiar en una excursión de mañana que hice al Parque Regional del Sureste de Madrid a principios del mes de enero.
In this post I show you what I was able to photograph on a mid day trip I did to the Regional Park of the Southeast of Madrid at the beginning of January.

El día fue muy bueno pero cuando llegué hacia bastante niebla como es habitual en las noches frías es esta época del año. Había habido una buena helada como podéis observar en algunas de las fotos.

The day was very good but when I arrived it was quite foggy as usual on cold nights at this time of year. There had been a huge frost as you can see in some of the photos.

Vi varios cisticola buitrón (Cisticola juncidis).

I saw several Zitting Cisticola.

Un macho de tarabilla europea (Saxicola rubicola) en la niebla.

A male Common Stonechat in the mist.

Hembra. Fijaos que bien se ve la escarcha en el carrizo.

Female. You can see the frost on the reed.

Otra hembra ya cuando el sol había quitado la niebla.

Another female already when sun had removed the mist.

Una especie que abunda en este Parque durante el invierno es el escribano palustre (Emberiza schoeniclus). En la foto un macho.

A species that abounds in this Park during the winter is the Common Reed Bunting. In the photo a male.

Hembra.

Female.

Menos abundante en este paraje es el ruiseñor pechiazul (Luscinia svecica). En la península ibérica se le puede ver en invierno en humedales, tanto interiores como costeros,  mientras que en época de reproducción su territorio se circunscribe a los sistemas montañosos de la cordillera cantábrica, montes de León y sistema central.  En la foto un macho.

Less abundant in this area is the Bluethroat. In the Iberian Peninsula it can be seen in winter in wetlands, both interior and coastal, while in the breeding season its territory is limited to the mountainous systems of the Cantabrian Mountain Range, León Mountains and Central System Mountain Range. In the photo a male.

Todas las fotos de esta especie son de machos que no vi ninguna hembra.

All photos of this species are of males that I did not see any female.

Son muy bonitos.

They are very beautiful.

Había varios aguiluchos laguneros occidentales (Circus aeruginosus).

There were several Eurasian Marsh Harrier.

Herrerillo común (Cyanistes caeruleus).

Blue Tit.

Hembra de pinzón vulgar (Fringilla coelebs).

Common Chaffinch female.

Volví a ver más escribanos palustres (Emberiza schoeniclus) donde suelen estar los ruiseñores pechiazules (Luscinia svecica). En las fotos dos hembras.

I again saw more Common Reed Bunting where Bluethroats usually are. In the photos two females.

La verdad es que el ruiseñor pechiazul (Luscinia svecica) no es nada bonito por la espalda y se asemeja a un petirrojo europeo (Erithacus rubecula).

The truth is that Bluethroat  is not pretty from behind and resembles a European Robin.

Los ejemplares reproductores en la península ibérica pertenecen a la subespecie cyanecula. Los individuos que tienen mancha gular blanca o que no la tienen son de esta subespecie, mientras que cuando la mancha gular es rojiza pertenecen a la subespecie svecica. La primera subespecie corresponde a  ejemplares del centro y del sur de Europa y la segunda a los del norte de Europa.

Breeding specimens in the Iberian Peninsula belong to the cyanecula subspecies. Individuals with a white throat spot or no throat spot are of this subspecies, while those with a reddish throat spot belong to the subspecies svecica. The first are specimens from central and southern Europe and the second to those from northern Europe.

Para que veáis las diferencias que os he comentado en la fotografía anterior, os he subido esta foto de un ejemplar que fotografíe en uno de nuestros viaje a la península de Varanger, Noruega y pertenece a la subespecie svecica. Este año volvemos a ir en mayo y por si os interesa ir, os dejo un enlace del viaje que solo quedan 3 plazas. Del 26 de mayo al 4 de junio 2023 viaje a Noruega y Finlandia.

So that you can see the differences that I have mentioned in the previous photograph, I have uploaded this photo of a specimen that I photographed on one of our trips to the Varanger peninsula, Norway and it belongs to the svecica subspecies. This year we are going again in May and if you are interested in joing it, I leave you a link to the trip, there are only 3 seats left. From May 26 to June 4, 2023 trip to Norway and Finland.

Me llevo un buen rato conseguir fotos de el ruiseñor pechiazul (Luscinia svecica) subido en una de los carrizos. La espera mereció la pena.

It took me a long time to get photos of the Bluethroat on one of the reeds. The wait was worth it.

Otra especie que suelo ver por este lugar es el pájaro moscón europeo (Remiz pendulinus).

Another species that I usually see in this place is the Penduline Tit.

Otra bonita especie.

Another beautiful species.

Había varios grupos de avefrías europeas (Vanellus vanellus).

There were several groups of Northern Lapwing.

Un macho de gorrión moruno (Passer hispaniolensis). Las hembras son muy parecidas a las del gorrión común (Passer domesticus).

A  Spanish Sparrow male. Females are very similar to those of the House Sparrow.

Otro macho.

Another male.

Una lavandera blanca (Motacilla alba).

A White Wagtail.

Y para finalizar os muestro este busardo ratonero (Buteo buteo) que parecía estar muy atento a lo que yo estaba haciendo.

And finally I show you this Common Buzzard that seemed to be paying attention to what I was doing.

Comentaros que las lagunas que yo visité estaban totalmente secas y no había aves que de estar con agua hubiese visto.

Let me tell you that the lagoons that I visited were completely dry and there were no birds that I would have seen if they had water.

En este blog os muestro lo que pude fotografiar en tres visitas a parques públicos de Madrid y sus alrededores. 
In this blog I show you what I was able to photograph in three visits to Public Parks in Madrid and its surroundings.

Al ser parques públicos en los que habitualmente pasea la gente, las aves se acostumbran a ella y suelen estar más mansos que en las zonas rurales.
Being public Parks where people usually walk, Bbirds get used to it and are usually tamer than in rural areas.

Es poco habitual encontrar pato colorado (Netta rufina) en los parques. En la foto un macho.
It is unusual to find red duck (Netta rufina) in parks. In the photo a male.

Es una especie de pato buceadora como se puede ver en la imagen.
It is a species of diving Duck as you can see in the photo.

Una hembra.
A female.

Sin embargo, los ánades azulones (Anas platyrhynchos) están en todos los parques que tengan estanques, lagos o riachuelos. Macho.
However, Mallards are found in all parks that have ponds, lakes or streams. Male.

Hembra.
Female.

Gorrión molinero (Passer montanus).

Eurasian Tree Sparrow.

Pito real ibérico (Picus sharpei). Como tiene las bigoteras rojas es un macho.
Iberian Green Woodpecker. Since he has red mustaches, he is a male.

Y esta es una hembra. Fijaos que tiene las bigoteras gris oscuro.
And this is a female. Notice that she has dark gray mustaches.

Esta especie invasora, la cotorra argentina (Myiopsitta monachus) es muy abundante en todos los parques.

This invasive species, the Monk Parakeet is very abundant in all Parks.

Focha común (Fulica atra).

Common Coot.

Gallineta común (Gallinula chloropus).

Moorhen.

En invierno los parques que tienen zonas con agua acogen al cormorán grande (Phalacrocorax carbo). En la foto se ve que ha pescado un pez gato (Ameiurus melas) bastante grande.

In winter, Parks that have areas with water are home of the Great Cormorant. In the photo you can see that it has caught a fairly large Catfish.

Es muy frecuente que cuando hay varios, los demás quieren robarle la captura.

It is very common that when there are several, the others want to steal its catch.

Después de un buen rato, se lo pudo tragar no sin gran esfuerzo.

After a long time, he was able to swallow it with great effort.

Luego, se puso a secar sus plumas al sol para salir volando hacia otro lugar.

Then, it began to dry its feathers in the sun to fly off to another place.

Zampullín común (Tachybaptus ruficollis).

Little Grebe.

Gaviota reidora (Chroicocephalus ridibundus).

Black-headed Gull.

Cada vez se ven mas conejos comunes  (Oryctolagus cuniculus) por los parques.

More and more European rabbit are seen in Parks.

Otro habitante que durante el invierno se ve mucho es el petirrojo europeo (Erithacus rubecula).

Another inhabitant that is seen a lot during winter is the European Robin.

Poco habitual en los parques de Madrid es el cisne vulgar (Cygnus olor). 

Unusual in the parks of Madrid is the Mute Swan.

Una pareja.

A pair.

Uno de ellos salió volando. Impresionante la fuerza que tienen estas aves.

One of them went flying. Impressive the strength that these birds have.

Macho de pinzón vulgar (Fringilla coelebs).

Male Common Chaffinch.

Hembra.

Female.

Esta especie invasora el ganso del Nilo (Alopochen aegyptiaca) cada día es más abundante.

This invasive species, the Egyptian Goose, is becoming more abundant.

Además son muy prolíficos y protectores de sus crías. Se pueden reproducir en todas las épocas del año. En la foto un joven que debió de nacer en septiembre. He llegado a ver pollos recién nacidos en pleno mes de diciembre.

They are also very prolific and protective of their doslings. They can reproduce at all times of the year. In the photo a juvenile who must have been born in September. I have come to see newborn goslings in the middle of December.

Macho de curruca cabecinegra (Sylvia melanocephala).

Sardinian Warbler male.

Un visitante invernal de nuestros parques es el zorzal alirrojo (Turdus iliacus).

A winter visitor to our parks is the Redwing.

Otro ave invernante en Madrid es el jilguero lúgano (Spinus spinus). En la foto un macho.

Another wintering bird in Madrid is the Eurasian Siskin. In the photo a male.

Otro macho. Les gusta mucho alimentarse de las semillas de los alisos comunes (Alnus glutinosa).

Another male. They are very fond of feeding on the seeds of Common Alders.

Hembras.

Females.

Pocas veces he visto acentores comunes (Prunella modularis) en los parques que suelo visitar. Este año he visto bastantes.

I have rarely seen aDunnock in the Parks I usually visit. I have seen quite a few this year.

Zorzal común (Turdus philomelos).

Song Thrush.

Un ave que me gusta mucho es el picogordo (Coccothraustes coccothraustes). En la foro un macho.

A bird that I really like is the Hawfinch. In the photo a male.

Una hembra.

A female.

En el centro de la imagen dos garcetas comunes (Egretta garzetta).

In the center of the image two Little Egrets.

Macho de cuchara común (Spatula clypeata).

Northern Shoveler male.

Garza real (Ardea cinerea) adulta.

Adult Gray Heron.

Inmadura.

Immature.

En uno de los parques había tres martinetes comunes (Nycticorax nycticorax).

In one of the parks there were three Night Herons.

Macho de gorrión común (Passer domesticus).

House Sparrow male.

Hembra.

Female.

Un macho de verderón común (Carduelis chloris).

A male of Greenfinch.

Hembra de curruca capirotada (Sylvia atricapilla).

Blackcap female.

Macho de serín verdecillo (Serinus serinus).

European Serin male.

Mosquitero común (Phylloscopus collybita).

Common Chiffchaff.

Y para finalizar, os enseño un macho de pato mandarín (Aix galericulata) que me dijeron que estaba en el Parque Lineal del Manzanares y me fui a fotografiarle el día 1 de enero.

And finally, I show you a male Mandarin Duck that they told me he was in the Parque Lineal del Manzanares and I went to photograph him on January 1st.

No portaba ninguna anilla por lo que me imagino que será un ejemplar proveniente de Inglaterra o centro Europa que hay bastantes y llevan años naturalizados.

He did not have any rings, so I imagine it must be a specimen from England or central Europe, of which there are quite a few and they have been naturalized for years.

Su distribución natural es Asia Oriental.

Its natural distribution is East Asia.

Para mi, es el pato más bonita del mundo.

For me, it is the most beautiful duck in the world.
