Birding Madrid, la Sierra. Birding Madrid, Mountain Range.


Hola de nuevo.
Hello again.

En esta entrada os muestro algunas fotos que pude tomar en dos visitas a la Sierra de Madrid. La primera parte es en la zona oeste y la segunda en la este.
In this post I show you some photos that could take in two visits to Madrid Mountain Range. The first part is in the Western side and the second in the Eastern.

Debido a las altas temperaturas que hemos tenido durante finales de junio y el mes de julio decidí acudir a un lugar más fresco para hacer más agradables las visitas. En las zonas de la estepa y los humedales se alcanzaban los 40º centígrados.
Because of the high temperatures we have had during late June and July I decided to go to a cooler places to make the visits more enjoyable. In the steppe and wetlands the temperature have reached up to 40 degrees Celsius.

Nada más aparcar me llamaron la atención estos grillos de matorral (Pycnogaster jugicola) endémicos de la Península Ibérica. En la foto un macho.
As soon as we parked it kept my attention these Fat-bellied Saddle Bush-cricket endemic to the Iberian Peninsula. In the photo a male.


Y en esta otra una hembra.
And in this one a female.


Vimos varios acentores comunes (Prunella modularis) pero solo pude fotografiar este joven.
We saw several dunnocks but I could only shoot this juvenile.


Había bastantes escribanos montesinos (Emberiza cia).
There were quite a few Rock Buntings.


Algunas hembras estaban construyendo sus nidos.
Some females were building their nests.




Bonitas aves.
Beautiful Birds.


Un coloreado macho de pardillo común (Carduelis cannabina).
A colorful male of Common Linnet.



Y una hembra que también estaba recogiendo material para su nido.
And a female who was also collecting material for her nest.


Cuervo (Corvus coraxa contraluz.
Raven in backlighting.


Otra ave maravillosa y con un canto muy bonito el escribano hortelano (Emberiza hortulana).
Another wonderful Bird and with a beautiful singing the Ortolan Bunting.




Me parece que le estoy oyendo.
It seems like I'm hearing it.


Algunos ya estaban llevando comida a sus crías.
Some were already carrying food to their offsprings.


En una charca cercana pudimos ver ranas comunes (Pelophylax perezi).
In a close pond we could see Perez's Frogs.


Y también había varios ejemplares de libélulas de vientre plano (Libellula depressa). En la foto un macho.
And there were also several specimens of Broad-bodied Chaser. In the photo a male.


Una mariposa nacarada (Argynnis paphia).
A Silver-washed Fritillary.


Papamoscas cerrojillo (Ficedula hypoleuca).
Pied Flycatcher.



Un macho de pico menor (Dendrocopos minor) saliendo de su nido.
A male of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker leaving its nest.


Tenia mucho trabajo trayendo comida para su prole.
He had a lot of work bringing food for their offspring.



Mosquitero papialbo (Phylloscopus bonelli).
Western Bonelli's Warbler.



Reyezuelo listado (Regulus ignicapilla).
Firecrest.


Corneja negra (Corvus corone).
Carrion Crow.


Milano negro (Milvus migrans).
Black Kite.

Zona este de la Sierra de Madrid.
Eastern part of the Madrid Mountain Range.


En esta zona había bastantes alcaudones dorsirrojos (Lanius collurio).
In this area there were several Red-backed Shrikes.




Joven de alcaudón dorsirrojo (Lanius collurio).
Juvenile of Red-backed Shrike.

Another one.


Vimos varios grupos de rabilargos ibéricos (Cyanopica cookii).
We saw several groups of Azure-winged Magpie.


Había dos ejemplares de águila calzada (Aquila pennata) una de fase clara y esta de fase oscura.
There were two specimens of Booted Eagle one of white phase and this other of dark phase.



Este zarcero políglota (Hippolais polyglotta) estaba muy ajetreado con la cría.
This Melodious Warbler was very busy with its brood.




Tarabilla europea (Saxicola rubicola) macho.
Common Stonechat male.



Hembra.
Female.


Joven.
Juvenile.


Joven de busardo ratonero (Buteo buteo).
Juveniel of Common Buzzard.



Había algunas parejas de currucas mirlonas (Sylvia hortensispero casi imposible de fotografiar. No paraban quietas y siempre escondidas detrás de los arbustos.
There were some couples Orphean Warbler but almost impossible to photograph. They did not ever stop and always hidden behind bushes.


Escribano montesino (Emberiza cia).
Rock Bunting.


Vimos algunos buitres negros (Aegypius monachus).
We saw some Monk Vultures.



Y bastantes más de buitres leonados (Gyps fulvus). También vimos un alimoche común (Egyptian Vulture) al que no pude fotografiar.
And many more Griffon Vultures. We also saw an Egyptian Vulture that I could not photograph.


Joven de verderón serrano (Serinus citrinella).
Juvenile of Citril Finch.


Otro joven pero de trepador azul (Sitta europaea).
Another juvenile but of European Nuthatch.


Y el último joven de esta entrada un mosquitero papialbo (Phylloscopus bonelli).
And the last juvenile of this post a Bonelli's Warbler.


Durante bastante rato estuvimos muy entretenidos con la variedad de mariposas que había. Os dejo algunas de ellas pues son difíciles de fotografiar. En la imagen una manto de oro (Heodes virgaureae).
For quite a while we were very entertained by the variety of butterflies there was. I leave some of them because they are hard to photograph. In the picture a Scarce Copper.

Una  medioluto Ibérica (Melanargia lachesis).
An Iberian Marbled White.





Mariposa Limonera (Gonepteryx rhamni).
Common Brimstone.




La que más nos gustó la pavo real (Inachis io).
The one we liked most Peacock Butterfly.


Maravillosa.
Wonderful.


Una Nacarada (Argynnis paphia).
A Silver-washed Fritillary.




Y para finalizar os muestro a esta C-blanca (Polygonia c-album).
And finally I show you this Comma.
