El lince ibérico, Andújar. The Iberian Lyinx, Andújar.

Lo primero de todo os deseo que este año que comienza, 2017, sea un magnífico año de pajareo para todos vosotros. También quiero daros las gracias por todas vuestras visitas a este blog y espero que este año que comienza no os defraude y pueda continuar enseñándoos nuestros viajes. Espero veros en algunos de ellos.

First of all I wish that this Year that begins, 2017, will be a magnificent year of birding for all of you. I also want to thank you for all your visits to this blog and I hope that this coming year I will not disappoint you and that I can continue to show you our trips. I hope to see you in some of them.

Esta semana le toca el turno a un viaje de tres días que tenia como objetivo prioritario ver al Lince Ibérico (Lynx pardinus).

This week is the turn of a three days trip we made and that had as a priority target to see the Iberian Lynx.

A pesar del mal tiempo que tuvimos, pues o llovía o estaba nublado, conseguimos ver al Gato. Que animal tan bonito y enigmático.
Despite the bad weather we had, because it was raining or cloudy, we got to see the Cat. What a beautiful and enigmatic animal.

Aunque las esperas se hacen algunas veces eternas cuando se le ve se te olvida el tiempo transcurrido.
Although waits are sometimes eternal when you see it you forget time passed by.

El Parque Natural Sierra de Andújar es además un enclave privilegiado para multitud de aves y mamíferos. 
Sierra de Andújar Natural Park is also a prime location for many Birds and Mammals.


El Santuario de la Virgen de la Cabeza.

Vimos bastantes aviones roqueros (Ptyonoprogne rupestris).
We saw quite a few Crag Martins.


Al igual que ocurrió con los petirrojos europeos (Erithacus rubecula).
As it was the case with the European Robins.


Rabilargo ibérico (Cyanopica cookii).
Azure-winged Magpie.




Pito real (Picus viridis sharpei).
European Green Woodpecker.


Roquero solitario (Monticola solitarius) macho.
Male of Blue Rock Thrush.


Buitres negros (Aegypius monachus).
Black Vultures.


Macho de pinzón vulgar (Fringilla coelebs).
Male of Common Chaffinch.


Los madroños (Arbutus unedo) estaban preciosos.
Strawberry Trees were beautiful.


Y no fue hasta el medio día del segundo día cuando pudimos ver al esperado y deseado lince ibérico (Lynx pardinus). Aunque estaba lejos lo disfrutamos durante mucho tiempo pues anduvo de un lado para otro con mucha tranquilidad. 
And it was not until noon on the second day that we could see the long-awaited Iberian Lynx. Although it was far away we enjoyed it for a long time as it walked from one place to another with no rush.



Es emocionante ver a este escasísimo felino en libertad.
It is exciting to see this very scarce feline in freedom. 

 

Buitre leonado (Gyps fulvus).
Griffon Vulture.



Buitre negro  (Aegypius monachus).
Black Vulture.


Un águila imperial ibérica (Aquila adalberti) entre los buitres leonados (Gyps fulvus).
A Spanish Imperial Eagle among Griffon Vultures.


Chovas piquirrojas (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax).
Red-billed Choughs.


El tercer día, como ya habíamos visto al lince ibérico (Lynx pardinus), decidimos probar suerte con las nutrias europeas (Lutra lutra) y nos acercamos hasta el río Jándula. En la foto una garza real (Ardea cinerea).
On the third day, as we had already seen the Iberian Lynx, we decided to try our luck with the Eurasian Otters so we went to the Jandula River. In the photo a Grey Heron.


Mientras esperábamos nos entretuvimos con la observación de varias aves. Cormorán grande (Phalacrocorax carbo).
While waiting we enjoyed watching several Bird species. A Great Cormorant. 


Martín pescador común (Alcedo atthis).
Common Kingfisher.


Hembra de colirrojo tizón (Phoenicurus ochruros).
Female of Black Redstart.


Escribano montesino (Emberiza cia).
Rock Bunting.



Y las nutrias europeas (Lutra lutra) no se hicieron de rogar. Enseguida aparecieron por el río.
And the Eurasian Otters did not disappointed us as they soon showed up trough the river.




Que bonitas son.
They are really beautiful.



También vimos muchas perdices rojas (Alectoris rufa).
We also saw many Red-legged Partridges.



Abubilla común (Upupa epops).
Eurasian Hoopoe.


Joven de águila imperial ibérica (Aquila adalberti).
Juvenile of Spanish Imperial Eagle.


Vimos muchas. En la foto un adulto.
We saw many. In the photo an adult.


Esta otra se estaba comiendo un conejo.
This one was eating a Rabbit.


Y esta fue la que más cerca vimos.
And this was the closest we saw.



Impresionante ave.

Macho de curruca capirotada (Sylvia atricapilla).
Male of Blackcap.


Macho de curruca cabecinegra (Sylvia melanocephala).
Male of Sardinian Warbler.


Zorzal charlo (Turdus viscivorus).
Mistle Thrush.


Picogordo (Coccothraustes coccothraustes).
Hawfinch.



Estornino negro (Sturnus unicolor).
Spotless Starling.


Comederos de granito para el ganado.
Granite feeders for cattle.


Los toros bravos abundan en estas fincas y comparten terreno con infinidad de ciervos comunes (Cervus elaphus).
The Spanish Fighting Bulls are abundant in these farms and share their place with countless Red Deers.


Además de los mamíferos que os he mostrado anteriormente, también pudimos ver este impresionante muflón común (Ovis orientalis musimon).
In addition to the mammals I have shown you before, we were also able to see this impressive European Mouflon.


También vimos bastantes gamos comunes (Dama dama).
We also saw many Fallow Deers.




Pero los más abundantes eran los ciervos comunes (Cervus elaphus).
But the most abundant were the Red Deers..


Una bonita hembra.
A beautiful hind.


Este impresionante macho estaba muy enfadado con la encina.
This awesome stag was very angry with the Holm Oak Tree.









Durante los tres días pudimos oír la berrea como si estuviésemos en pleno mes de septiembre que es cuando están en celo. No paraban de berrar ni al medio día.
During the three days we could hear Red Deer rut as if we were in the middle of September when they are in heat. They did not stop rutting even at noon.


Un bonito y prometedor bareto.
A pretty and promising juvenile stag.



Impresionante ver tantos machos con tan bonitas cornamentas.
It is awesome to see so many stags with such big antlers.
