Esta es la segunda parte del viaje a Noruega y Finlandia que hicimos del 27 de mayo al 4 de junio. Concretamente del 1 al 4 de junio. Los dos primeros días los pasamos entre las localidades de Varangerbunto y Berlevåg, y nos alojamos en la localidad de Batsfjord.

This is the second part of the trip to Norway and Finland that we did from May 27 to June 4. Specifically from June 1 to 4. The first two days were spent between the towns of Varangerbunto and Berlevåg, and we stayed in the town of Batsfjord.

1 de junio:

June first:

Otro día de un sol radiante y con temperaturas más elevadas de lo que es habitual en esta época del año. Yo estaba preocupado pues había advertido a los clientes que fuesen muy abrigados que el frío era muy intenso debido al viento que casi siempre suele ser fuerte. Solo tuvimos una mañana fría durante todo el viaje. Mucho mejor así.

Another day of sunshine and with higher temperatures than usual at this time of year. I was worried because I had warned to the clients  to wear very warm clothes that the cold was very intense due to the wind, which is almost always strong. We only had one cold morning for the entire trip. Much better this way.

Ante de salir hacia el norte, en el jardín del hotel pudimos ver varios zorzales reales (Turdus pilaris).

Before heading north, in the hotel garden we could watch several Fieldfare.

Y a esta cercan liebre ártica (Lepus arcticus).

And this close Arctic Hare.

Ya de camino hacia Batsfjord un busardo calzado (Buteo lagopus).

Already on the way to Batsfjord a Rough-legged Buzzard.

Un rebaño de renos euroasiáticos (Rangifer tarandus) descansaban en un meandro del río Tana.

A herd of Reindeer were resting in a bend of the Tana River.

Otros tres combatientes (Calidris pugnax) de distintos colores. Había un lek con muchos machos pero al estar a contraluz ni me molesté en sacarles fotos.

Three other Ruff of different colors. There was a lek with many males but being backlit I didn't even bother to take pictures of them.

Para mi, este fue el mas original en cuanto a coloración se trata.

For me, this was the most original in terms of coloration.

Nos fue imposible visitar algunos de los lagos previstos pues el camino hacia ellos estaba aun con mucha nieve. En este que estaba cercano a la carretera había varias parejas de pato havelda (Clangula hyemalis). El macho a la derecha con la cola larga y colores más llamativos.

It was impossible for us to visit some of the planned lakes because the road to them was still very snowy. In this one, which was close to the road, there were several pairs of Long-tailed Duck. The male on the right with the long tail and more striking colors.

Pardillo ártico (Acanthis hornemanni).

Un bonito macho de escribano lapón (Calcarius lapponicus).

A beautiful male Lapland Bunting.

Vimos una pareja de lagópodo alpino (Lagopus muta). Solo fotografié al macho pues la hembra estaba mas lejana.

We saw a pair of Rock Ptarmigan. I only photographed the male because the female was further away.

Vimos varios colimbos chicos (Gavia stellata).

We saw several Red-throated Diver.

Que bonitos están en plumaje reproductor.

How beautiful they are in breeding plumage.

Los págalos raberos (Stercorarius longicaudus) estaban más por el interior que por la costa.

Long-tailed Skua were more inland than along the coast.

Vuelvepiedras común (Arenaria interpres).

El hotel donde nos alojamos a orillas del puerto.

2 de junio:

June second:

En esta zona más al norte de la península de Varanger se veían menos pigargos europeos (Haliaeetus albicilla).

Fewer White-tailed Eagle were seen in this area further north on the Varanger Peninsula.

Corneja cenicienta (Corvus cornix).

Hooded Crow.

Ánades rabudos (Anas acuta) machos.

Males Northern Pintail.

Otro macho que estaba más cerca.

Another male who was closer.

Tuvimos suerte y pudimos ver tres ejemplares inmaduros de eider real (Somateria spectabilis). Eran dos macho y una hembra, la que está en medio.

We were lucky and were able to see three immature King Eider. There were two males and a female, the one in the middle.

Fue una pena que no hubiese ningún macho adulto.

It was a pity that there were no adult males.

Machos de serreta grande (Mergus merganser).

En esta otra foto tres machos y dos hembras.

In this other photo three males and two females.

En mitad de uno de los párquines del puerto, se había instalado una pareja de ostreros euroasiáticos (Haematopus ostralegus) y tenían un nido en mitad con tres huevos. Menos mal que habían puesto una baliza que lo señalizaba que si no lo podríamos haber pisado.

In the middle of one of the port parks, a pair of Eurasian oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus) had settled down and they had a nest in the middle with three eggs. Luckily they had put a beacon that marked it, otherwise we could have stepped on it.

En el faro de Kjølnes había poco movimiento de aves marinas. Lo más destacado fueron los correlimos oscuros (Calidris maritima).

At Kjølnes lighthouse there was little seabird movement. The highlight was the Purple Sandpiper.

And this seal.

Por la tarde fuimos a una zona en donde crían los halcones gerifaltes (Falco rusticolus). Fuimos hasta un observatorio con mucho cuidado pues es una zona protegida y tienes que subir por un camino señalado. Como era por la tarde no vimos ninguno pues es mejor ir por la mañana que es cuando más se suelen mover. Yo se lo dije a los clientes pero ellos decidieron ir primero a ver los eideres reales (Somateria spectabilis). De todos modos las vistas desde el observatorio eran maravillosas. En la foto un grupo de chorlitos dorados europeos (Pluvialis apricaria).

In the afternoon we went to an area where Gyrfalcons breed. We went to an observatory very carefully because it is a protected area and you have to go up a marked path. As it was in the afternoon, we didn't see any, so it is better to go in the morning, which is when they tend to move the most. I told it to the clients but they decided to go first to spot King Eider. Anyway, views from the observatory were awesome. In the photo a group of European Golden Plover.

También había un rebaño de renos euroasiáticos (Rangifer tarandus). 

There was also a herdof Reindeer. 

Luego estuvimos cerca de una colonia de arao aliblanco (Cepphus grylle).

Then we were close to a Black Guillemot colony.

En dicha colonia también se habían instalado los charranes comunes (Sterna hirundo).

Common Terns had also settled in that colony.

Iban y venían en busca de alimento.

They came and went in search of food.

También vimos fugazmente a este zorro rojo (Vulpes vulpes).

We also caught a glimpse of this Red Fox.

En el camino de regreso al hotel, hicimos varias paradas. En la foto unos cisnes cantores (Cygnus cygnus).

On the way back to the hotel, we made several stops. In the photo some Whooper Swan.

También vimos este lek de combatientes (Calidris pugnax).

We also saw this Ruff lek.

Fue una suerte poder disfrutar durante bastante rato de estos machos y sus paradas nupciales además, con muy buen luz y acercamiento.

It was lucky to be able to enjoy these males and their breeding display for a long time, also with very good light and close-up.

Habréis notado al subiros tantas fotos de este lek que me gustan mucho los combatientes (Calidris pugnax).

You may have noticed when uploading so many photos of this lek that I really like Ruff.

Un macho de escribano lapón (Calcarius lapponicus).

Y para finalizar el día encontramos esta pareja de lagópodo alpino (Lagopus muta). En la foto el macho.

And to end the day we found this pair of Rock Ptarmigan. In the photo the male.

Y esta su hembra que nos llevó mas tiempo localizar pues, como podéis apreciar, su camuflaje es fantástico.

And this is his female that took us longer to spot because, as you can see, her camouflage is fantastic.

Que difícil era de encontrar si se quedaba quieta.

3 y 4 de junio:

June 3rd and 4th:

En estos dos días visitamos distintos lugares de Finlandia. Por la mañana del 3 de junio hicimos en viaje de ida a Finlandia y no tuvimos suerte con e tiempo pue estuvo lloviendo gran parte de él.

In these two days we visited different places in Finland. On the morning of June 3rd we made the trip to Finland and we were unlucky with the weather as it was raining for much of it.

Antes de nuestro primer destino vimos algunas gaviotas enanas (Hydrocoloeus minutus) en plumaje nupcial. Son realmente bonitas.

Before our first destination we saw some Little Gull in breeding plumage. They are really pretty.

En los otros destinos que visitamos no tuvimos mucha suerte con la fotografía de nuevas especies pues en algunos de ellos estaba lloviendo. El mejor de todos fue unos comederos para aves que estaba en un hotel de carretera. En él, yo no saque la cámara del coche pues llovía bastante y era un destino que íbamos a hacer también al día siguiente.

In the other destinations we visited we did not have much luck with the photography of new species because in some of them it was raining. The best of all was some bird feeders that were in a roadside hotel. In it, I did not take the camera out of the car because it was raining a lot and it was a destination that we were going to do the next day as well.

Por la tarde localizamos a esta pareja de colimbos árticos (Gavia arctica) que estaba en uno de los numerosos lagos que hay en esta zona de Finlandia.

In the afternoon we located this pair of Black-throated Diver that was in one of the many lakes in this area of Finland.

Al día siguiente, debido a que en el hotel e el que estábamos el desayuno era a las 8 de la mañana, decidí ir a desayunos al hotel que tiene los comederos y que estaba como a una hora de camino. Salimos temprano y pasamos unas 3 horas entre el desayuno y las fotografías que hicimos a las aves que a los comederos acudían. En la fotografía un carbonero lapón (Poecile cinctus).

The next day, because breakfast was at 8 in the morning at the hotel where we were staying, I decided to go for breakfast at the hotel that has the food troughs and that was about an hour away. We left early and spent about 3 hours between breakfast and the photographs we took of the birds that came to the feeders. In the photograph a Siberian Tit.

Yo no estuve muy atento a los parámetros de mi teleobjetivo y había puesto, sin darme cuenta, el enfoque a partir de 8,5 metros con lo que gran parte de las fotos que tomé salieron desenfocadas pues, algunas aves, estaban más cerca de esa distancia. En esta foto un pardillo norteño (Acanthis flammea).

I did not pay attention to the parameters of my lens and had, without realizing it, set the focus from 8.5 meters, so a large part of the photos I took were out of focus because some birds were closer than that distance. In this photo a Common Redpoll.

Un juvenil de esta misma especie.

Macho de verderón común (Carduelis chloris).

Greenfinch male.

Había muchos pinzones reales (Fringilla montifringilla). En la foto un macho.

There were a lot of Brambling. In the photo a male.

Hembra.

Carbonero común (Parus major).

Great Tit.

Este fue el único macho de camachuelo picogrueso (Pinicola enucleator) que enfoque bien en todo la mañana.

This was the only Pine Grosbeak male  that came on focus in all morning.

Como vinieron más hembras que machos, con está últimas tuve más éxito.

Since more females came than males, I was more successful with them.

También aparecieron una pareja de camachuelos comunes (Pyrrhula pyrrhula). En la foto el macho.

A pair of Common Bullfinch also appeared. In the photo the male.

Es otra especie que me gusta muchísimo.

It is another species that I like very much.

La hembra.

The female.

Carbonero montano (Poecile montanus).

Willow Tit.

También acudieron algunas ardillas rojas (Sciurus vulgaris), o una en varias ocasiones, quien sabe.

Some Red Squirrels also came, or one on several occasions, who knows.

Pudimos observar varios ejemplares de serreta chica (Mergellus albellus). Es una pena que las que vinos eran muy desconfiadas y echaban a volar en cuanto parabas la furgoneta o te acercabas andando a ellas. En la foto un lejano macho.

We were able to observe several Smew. It is a pity that the ones we saw were very suspicious and took flight as soon as you stopped the van or approached them on foot. In the photo a distant male.

Una pareja de cisnes cantores (Cygnus cygnus). Uno de ellos en el gran nido que construye esta especie y el otro no muy lejos suyo.

A pair of Whooper Swan. One of them in the large nest that this species builds and the other not far from it.

También había una lejana grulla común pero no descubrimos donde estaba incubando su pareja.

There was also a distant Common Crane (Grus grus) but we did not discover where its mate was incubating.

Un macho de silbón europeo (Anas penelope).

A male Eurasian Wigeon.

También había algunos ejemplares de porrón osculado (Bucephala clangula). En la foto una pareja.

There were also some specimens of Common Goldeneye. In the photo a pair.

Un bonito macho de reno euroasiático (Rangifer tarandus) estaba en un jardín de una casa. 

A beautiful male Reindeer was in a home garden.

Y para finalizar unas fotos de algunos sitios que visitamos en Finlandia.

And to finish some photos of some places we visited in Finland.

Y con estas dos fotos de dos alces (Alces alces) que vimos y que yo no pude fotografiar pues estaba en la ventanilla opuesta a donde estaban.

And with these two photos of two moose (Alces alces) that we saw and that I couldn't photograph because I was at the window opposite where they were.
