Pajareando por Madrid, Sierra del Rincón. Birding Madrid, Sierra del Rincón.

Hola una vez más.
Hi again.

In the following link you can see our next national and foreign Birds and Mammals photographic and observation trips. I hope you like them and I encourage you to come with me. An experience that you will not forget.

During the state of confinement, I have repeatedly gone up to the Sierra del Rincón because, not being able to leave the Community of Madrid and having already started to raise temperatures, there were not many other options. This Mountain Range was declared by the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2005.

Besides being able to see several species of warblers, the stars of this part of the Madrilenian geography are Red-backed Shrikes, Pied Flycatchers and Tree Pipits.

Also noteworthy is the great variety of Flora and Insects that can be observed.

This year we have had a rainy spring and field was awesome.

El paisaje es maravilloso.
Landscape is marvellous.

Although in this Mountain Range Iberian Magpie are not very abundant, I could enjoy seeing some specimens.

Un bonito mito (Aegithalus caudatus).
A beautiful Long-tailed Tit.

I am always amazed by the high Winter Wren sing.

A male Blackcap was trapping insects for his chicks.

Although their song is very high and can be heard at a great distance, Western Orphean Warbler are very shy and it is very difficult to take a good photo of them.

Another Bird that I really like is the Firecrest.

Y sobre todo cuando levantan su cresta.
And especially when they raise their crest.

Había muchos mosquiteros papialbos (Phylloscopus bonelli).
There were many Western Bonelli's Warbler.

Some Rufous Nightingale could also be heard, although there were more difficult to watch.

Las alondras totovías (Lullula arboreacantaban vigorosamente.
Wood Larks sang vigorously.

Escribano triguero (Miliaria calandra).
Corn Bunting.

Another of the Buntings I saw were the Rock Bunting.

With so much rain there was a profusion of plants and flowers. In the photo a Wild Orchid.

And in this other  it is called Tongue Orchid.

Algunas flores más.
Some other flowers.

And with so much flower there were also many Butterflies.

An insect that shrikes like very much is the Grasshopper.

Pude fotografiar a bastantes alcaudones dorsirrojos (Lanius collurio).
I was able to photograph quite a few Red-backed Shrikes.

Especially males because females must be incubating.

Es una ave preciosa.
It is a beautiful Bird.

I saw some females but always fleetingly and they disappeared immediately. This was the only one I could photograph and it was very far away. As you can see the sexual dimorphism between male and  female is very notorious.

Milano negro (Milvus migrans).
Black Kite.

There were many European Robins but always very hidden. The truth is that they could be heard rather than seen.

Unas cuantas mariposas más.
A few more Butterflies.

Another species that I like very much to see, as it is its southernmost range of its distribution in breeding time, is the Tree Pipit.

In Spain it is a summer bird from the north of the peninsula that in the 1960s began a slow expansion through the Central Mountain Range.

It is easy to locate because it has a powerful song.

Due to the confinement this year I could not go to see the arrival of the Eurasian Wryneck in March, so this was the first I saw and heard.

You could hear many Common Whitethroat but I could only photograph these two.

A beautiful specimen of European Honey-buzzard.

Águila calzada (Aquila pennata) morfo claro.
Booted Eagle pale morph.

El colmenar de La Hiruela.
The apiary of La Hiruela.

Algunos insectos que me gustaron especialmente.
Some Insects that I especially liked.

One of the days I went up there were many European Stag Beetles.

Este lagarto o lagartija llamó mi atención.
This Lizard caught my eye.

This house was decked out with a profusion of Roses.

Curruca mosquitera (Sylvia borin).
Garden Warbler.

Macho de lavandera cascadeña (Motacilla cinerea).
Grey Wagtail male.

Vi varios milanos reales (Milvus milvus).
I saw several Red Kites.

There were several pairs of Cirl Bunting. A couple of them went with their young, but I couldn't photograph any of them because they were very hidden into the bushes. In the photo a male.

Hembra.
Female.

Pude ver varios buitres leonados (Gyps fulvus) y negros (Aegypius monachus).
I could see several Griffon Vultures and Black Vultures. I only photographed this Griffon because they were all very high.

Más flores que me gustaron.
More flowers that I liked.

In an impressive oak forest is this unique tree called Rebollo de la Dehesa. It is spectacular.

And finally, I present to you the third protagonist of this wonderful place of Madrid's geography, the Pied Flycatcher. It is a summer bird that in Spain is limited to mountainous areas and that in migratory passage it is very abundant and can be seen anywhere. This is a male.

This species has a marked sexual dimorphism, the males being very beautiful and elegant. In the photo a female.

As you already know which is the male and which the female, I do not tell it to you.

Hasta pronto.
See you soon.

Gracias
