Big Raptors at Madrid Community. Grandes rapaces en la Comunidad de Madrid.

Hola de nuevo.
Hi again.

This time I show some photos taken on a trip to see Large Raptors in the Community of Madrid. At this time the Great Eagles are in heat and it is easy to observe them circling in the skies.

The site chosen was the Southwest of the Community of Madrid.

The weather was good although the wind was intense but the day did not disappoint as we watched a total of 13 eagles, five Golden Eagles and 8 Spanish Imperial Eagles.

Aguilas imperiales ibéricas (Aquila adalberti) adultas.
Adults of Spanish Imperial Eagles.

This Great Cormorant caught and ate a big fish to our astonishment because we doubted if it could be swallow. The fish was almost as big as the Great Cormorant.

We also enjoyed with the presence of many Griffon Vultures.

As of Monk Vultures.

Una hembra de colirrojo tizón (Phoenicurus ochruros).
A female of Black Redstart.

There should be a dead animal close to us because the abundance of vultures was too much of both Griffon and Monk.

Aguilas reales (Aquila chrysaetosadultas.
Adults of Golden Eagles.

También vimos dos halcones peregrinos (Falco peregrinus).
We also watched two Peregrine Falcons.

Inmaduro de águila imperial ibérica (Aquila adalberti).
An immature of Spanish Imperial Eagle.

When we were having lunch we saw five imperial flying together. How wonderful.

I have seen this specimen on many occasions in that area.

Cuervo (Corvus corax).
Common Raven.

And finally I show this group of  Common Ravens that although only seven are shown in the pic the group consisted of seventeen Birds. It's a shame that this clever specie is in decline.

Hasta la próxima entrada.
Until the next post.
