BIRDING MADRID, SIERRA DE GUADARRAMA NATIONAL PARK.

Hola a todos una vez más.
Hello to all once again.

There is nothing that puts me more nervous that to have requests from clients to observe a particular specie. This time they asked to see the Citril Finches and to that end I decided to go to the Sierra del Guadarrama National Park.

The weather was pretty good until noon and then at the mountain became cloudy.

As it was close to our destiny I decided to make a briefly stop  at the Santillana Reservoir to see if we could see something interesting.

There was a couple of Ruddy Shelducks.

Preciosa ave.
And on the shores of the reservoir we could see some Red kites. Beautiful bird.

Lavandera boyera (Motacilla flava).
Yellow Wagtail.

Andaríos chicos (Actitis hypoleucos).
Common Sandpipers.

Y bastante paso de mosquiteros musicales (Phylloscopus trochilus).
And fairly passage of Willow Warblers.

As well as with Pied Flycatchers.

Ya habían llegado algunos cormoranes grandes (Phalacrocorax carbo).
Already had arrived some great cormorants.

When we reached the Sierra first thing we saw was this Blue Tit.

Y no muy lejos suyo algunos escribanos montesinos (Emberiza cia).
And not far from it some Rock Buntings.

Una preciosa culebrera europea (Circaetus gallicus).
A beautiful Short-toed Eagle.

Muchos Papamoscas cerrojillos (Ficedula hypoleuca).
Plenty Pied Flycatchers.

Y papamoscas grises (Muscicapa striata).
And Spotted Flycatchers.

Acentor común (Prunella modularis).
Dunnock.

Colirrojos tizones (Phoenicurus ochruros).
Black Redstarts.

Un bonito serval común (Sorbus domestica).
A pretty True Service tree.

Aguila calzada (Aquila pennata) fase clara.
Booted Eagle white phase.

And suddenly we saw a large flock of the desired Citril Finches. I was relaxed.

Almost all of them were eating seeds from these plants.

Thanks God this was the time I saw more Citril Finches. In total we saw several flocks that exceeded 100 individuals.

Corneja negra (Corvus corone).
Carrion Crow.

This Short-toed Eagle came and perched close to where we were.

Maravillosa.
Magnificent.

Un pinzón vulgar (Fringilla coelebsmuy confiado.
A very tame Common Chaffinch.

Y más verderones serranos (Serinus citrinella).
And some more Citril Finches.

Carbonero garrapinos (Periparus ater).
Coal Tit.

And before heading back to Madrid we saw this Common Buzzard.

Hasta la próxima entrada.
Until next post.
