En esta ocasión os muestro algunas imágenes de lo que vimos en el viaje organizado del 17 al 19 de septiembre para ver la migración en el Estrecho de Gibraltar de las aves planeadoras y aves limícolas.

On this occasion I show you some images of what we saw on the organized trip from September 17 to 19 to see the migration in the Strait of Gibraltar of soaring Birds and Waders.

También he incluido, después de las del viaje, otras fotos que hice durante mi estancia en tierras gaditanas antes del viaje al Estrecho. 

I have also included, after the trip, other photos I took during my stay in Cadiz before the trip to the Strait.

En cuanto llegamos a la provincia de Cádiz, nuestro primer punto de destino fue una de sus bonitas playas para ver algunas aves limícolas. En la foto un vuelvepiedras común (Arenaria interpres).

As soon as we arrived at the province of Cádiz, our first destination was one of its beautiful beaches to see some Waders. In the photo a Turnstone.

La playa se llenó de muchas especies de aves limícolas, charranes, fumareles, chorlitos, chorlitejos y gaviotas. Yo en esta ocasión me dedique a enseñar a los participantes de la excursión las distintas aves que íbamos viendo y solo saque algunas fotos.

The beach was filled with many species of Waders, Terns, Plovers and Seagulls. This time I dedicated myself to explaining to the participants of the excursion the different Birds that we were watching and I just took few photos.

Correlimos gordo (Calidris canutus).

Red Knot.

Probablemente, la especie más abundante eran los correlimos tridáctilos (Calidris alba).

Probably the most abundant species were Sanderlings.

Correlimos común (Calidris alpina).

Dunlin.

Después nos fuimos a ver a los ibis eremitas (Geronticus eremita).

Then we went to see the Northern Bald Ibis.

Esta especie ha sido reintroducida en Cádiz, Proyecto Eremita, pues llevaba ya más de 400 años de su desaparición. Como el número de nacimientos sigue siendo inferior al de muertes se continúa reintroduciendo ejemplares nacidos en cautividad. Esperemos que dentro de poco esta especie no necesite ya de la interferencia humana para poder seguir subsistiendo en libertad por España.

This species has been reintroduced in Cadiz, Projecto Eremita, as it had been more than 400 years since they disappeared. As the number of births is still lower than that of deaths, captive-born specimens continue to be reintroduced. Let us hope that soon this species will no longer need human interference in order to continue subsisting free in Spain.

Como yo ya sabía acudieron bastante ejemplares a su dormidero.

As I already knew, quite a few specimens came to their roosting place.

Al día siguiente fuimos a ver la migración en el Estrecho de Gibraltar. Nos hizo un poco de niebla pero este día vimos gran  cantidad de aves que iban a África para pasar el invierno. En la foto un gavilán común (Accipiter nisus).

Next day we went to see the migration at the Strait of Gibraltar. It was a bit foggy but this day we saw a lot of Birds that were going to Africa to spend winter. In the photo a Eurasian Sparrowhawk.

Culebrera europea (Circaetus gallicus).

Short-toed Eagle.

Águila calzada (Aquila pennata) morfo claro.

Pale morpho Booted Eagle.

Morfo oscuro.

Dark morpho.

Pasaron varios bandos de cigüeñas negras (Ciconia nigra).

Several flocks of Black Storks passed.

Y también vimos algunos buitres leonados (Gyps fulvus).

And we also saw some Griffon Vultures.

Por la tarde visitamos la playa de los Lances y el paraje de La Janda.

In the afternoon we visit Los Lances beach and La Janda area.

Había algunas cigüeñas blancas (Ciconia ciconia) que estaban esperando al día siguiente para pasar el estrecho.

There were some White Storks that were waiting to the next day to pass the strait.

Nos llevamos una desagradable sorpresa al contemplar como alguien de la zona se metía con el coche por los carriles de los arrozales para espantarlas. Después me comentaron que lo están haciendo habitualmente para evitar que los observadores de las aves vayan al lugar para observar aves. Es deplorable este tipo de actuaciones.

We got an unpleasant surprise when we saw how someone from the area drove down the lanes of the rice fields to scare them away. Later they told me that they are doing it regularly to prevent bird watchers from going to the place to observe Birds. This type of action is deplorable.

La verdad es que había muy pocas aves en la zona pero el avistamiento de este elanio común (Elanus caeruleus) salvo la tarde.

The truth is that there were very few Birds in the area but the sighting of this Black-shouldered Kite was worth going there.

El segundo día del estrecho de Gibraltar estuvo un poco menos animado que el día anterior. En la foto un águila calzada (Aquila pennata) morfo claro.

The second day in the Strait of Gibraltar was a little less lively than the day before. In the photo a pale morpho Booted Eagle.

Ya se veían muy pocos milanos negros (Milvus migrans).

Very few Black Kites were already seen.

Gavilán común (Accipiter nisus).

Cigüeña negra (Ciconia nigra).

Black Stork.

En este día pasaron más alimoches comunes (Neophron percnopterus) que en el día precedente. En la imagen un adulto.

More Egyptian Vultures passed through on this day than on the previous day. In the photo an adult.

Otro.

Another one.

En un momento pasaron dos adultos acompañados por dos jóvenes. Presumiblemente se trataba de los padres con sus dos jóvenes de este año.

At one point, two adults passed by, accompanied by two juveniles. Presumably it was the parents with their two juveniles of this year.

Y la sorpresa de la mañana fue este joven de aguilucho papialbo (Circus macrourus). Una especie que no había visto hasta ahora.

And the surprise of the morning was this juvenile Pallid harrier papialbo Harrier. A species that I had not seen until now.

Después de estar en el estrecho visitamos varios sitios de interés de la provincia y por la tarde regresamos a Madrid.

After being in the Strait, we visited several places of interest in the province and in the afternoon we returned to Madrid.

Yo también me pasé un par de mañanas en el estrecho de Gibraltar. En la foto una culebrera europea (Circaetus gallicus).
