En esta ocasión os enseño lo que pude fotografiar en la excursión programada de dos días a las Hoces del Alto Ebro a mediados del mes de julio.

On this occasion, I will show you what I was able to photograph on the two day trip programmed to the Hoces del Alto Ebro in mid-July.

La suerte estuvo de nuestro lado y pudimos ver todas las aves que estaban previstas. También el tiempo fue muy bueno, seco y soleado.

We were very lucky because we were able to spot all Birds that were planned. Also the weather was very good, dry and sunny.

Tengo que confesaros que en un momento de la excursión tuve que cambiar los parámetros de la máquina de fotos y no me di cuenta que el formato en el que estaba sacando fotos me había puesto en lugar del formato RAW el jpeg con la calidad más baja. Por ello algunas de las fotos que tomé son de baja calidad.

I have to confess that at one point during the trip I had to change the parameters of the photo machine and I did not realize that the format in which I was taking photos had put me instead of RAW format jpeg with the lowest quality . This is why some of the photos I took are of poor quality.

Además de ser un lugar en el que pueden ver especies de aves que en el centro peninsular son difíciles de ver y en algunos casos imposible, los lugares son francamente bonitos y merece la pena la visita.

In addition to being a place where you can see species of birds that in the center of the peninsula are difficult to see and in some cases impossible, the places are frankly beautiful and worth the visit.

El primer lugar visitado fue el Pozo Azul, que es un lugar en el que hay un caudaloso manantial o surgencia de agua. Como bien indica su nombre el color del agua es  espectacular.

The first place visited was the Pozo Azul, which is a place where there is a mighty spring or upwelling of water. As its name indicates, the color of the water is spectacular.

Ya en los cercanos riscos pudimos ver los primeros vencejos reales (Apus melba).

Already on the nearby cliffs we could spot the first Alpine Swift.

Y a los camachuelos comunes (Pyrrhula pyrrhula).

And Common Bullfinches as well.

Vimos varias lavanderas cascadeñas (Motacilla cinerea).

We spoted several Gray Wagtails.

Por estos bonitos lugares estuvimos buscando al mirlo acuático europeo (Cinclus cinclus). Le vimos pero no le pudimos fotografiar.

In these beautiful places we were looking for White-throated Dipper. We saw them but but without photographs.

Después subimos hasta la Ermita de las santas Centola y Elena de Siero desde donde se puede disfrutar de unas preciosas vistas del entorno.

Then we go up to the Ermita de las Santas Centola and Elena de Siero from where you can enjoy beautiful  landscape views.

En la ascensión pudimos disfrutar con la presencia de Papamoscas gris (Muscicapa striata).

On the ascent we were able to enjoy seeing Spotted Flycatcher.

Carbonero palustre (Poecile palustris).

Marsh Tit.

Esta macaón (Papilio machaon) nos entretuvo un buen rato hasta que se posó donde nosotros queríamos para conseguir un buen fondo. Estaba espectacular.

This Swallowtail entertained us for some time until it landed where we wanted to get a good background. It was spectacular. 

Un macho de colirrojo real (Phoenicurus phoenicurus).

A Common Redstart male.

A esta águila calzada (Aquila pennata) morfo claro le estaba hostigando un valiente cernícalo vulgar (Falco tinnunculus).

This light morpho Booted Eagle was being harassed by a brave Common Kestrel.

Y para finalizar el primer día del viaje nos fuimos a la bonita población de Orbaneja del Castillo.

And to end the first day of the trip we went to the beautiful town of Orbaneja del Castillo.

Los vencejos reales (Apus melba) venían a alimentar a sus pollos. Siempre me impresiona ver la velocidad a la que los adultos entran es sus nidos. 

Alpine Swift came to feed their chicks. I am always impressed by the speed at which adults enter their nests.

Esta vez si que pudimos fotografiar a los mirlos acuáticos europeos (Cinclus cinclus). En la foto un joven.

This time we were able to photograph White-throated Dipper. In the photo a juvenile.

Y este otro un adulto que estaba mudando sus plumas.

And this other an adult who was molting ist feathers.

A la mañana siguiente nos fuimos al observatorio del cañón del Ebro. Es impresionante.

Next morning we went to the Ebro Canyon observatory. It is awesome.

Antes de que el calor del sol comenzase a calentar la atmosfera y a haber corrientes térmicas para que los buitres y águilas comenzasen a volar, vimos a este reyezuelo listado (Regulus ignicapilla).

Before the heat of the sun began to warm the atmosphere and there were thermal currents so that the Vultures and eEagles began to fly, we saw this Firecrest.

Serín verdecillo (Serinus serinus).

European Serin.

Otro.

Another one.

Dos buitres leonados(Gyps fulvus). Un adulto a la izquierda de la imagen y un joven en su nido detrás del tronco del árbol de la derecha echado en su nido.

Two Griffon Vultures. An adult on the left of the image and a young in its nest behind the trunk of the tree on the right lying in its nest.

Un alimoche común (Neophron percnopterus) que no es fácil de ver si no te fijas bien.

An Egyptian Vulture that is not easy to see if you don't look closely.

Está debajo del curioso joven de buitre leonado (Gyps fulvus) que salió de entre los arbustos al llegar él.

It is below the curious juvenile griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) that came out of the bushes when it arrived.

Vimos varios alimoches comunes (Neophron percnopterus).

We saw several Egyptian Vultures.

Águila calzada (Aquila pennata) morfo oscuro.

Dark morph Booted Eagle.

Y esta otra morfo claro.

And this other pale morph.

Y este busardo ratonero (Buteo buteo).

And this Common Buzzard.

En nuestro segundo punto de observación había un abrevadero con muchas ranas comunes (Pelophylax perezi).

At our second observation place there was a trough with many Iberian Water Frogs.

También vimos varios grupos de camachuelos comunes (Pyrrhula pyrrhula). En la foto un joven.

We also saw several flocks of Common Bullfinches. In the photo a Juvenile.

También me llamo la atención este bello ejemplar de la escasa y protegida rosalía alpina (Rosalia alpina).

I was also struck by this beautiful specimen of the rare and protected Alpine longhorn beetle.

También pudimos observar varios ejemplares de escribano cerillo (Emberiza citrinella). En la foto un macho.

We were also able to observe several specimens of the Yellowhammer. In the photo a male.

Un pardillo común (Linaria cannabina).

A Common Linnet.

Había bastantes mariposas por la zona. En la foto una bonita mariposa pavo real (Inachis io).

There were quite a few butterflies in the area. In the photo a beautiful Peacock Butterfly.

Y esta una ninfa de bosque (Limenitis camilla).

And this other a White Admiral.

No muy lejos de donde andábamos pajareando estaba el dolmen de la Cotorrita y decidimos hacerle una visita. 

Not far from where we were birding was the Cotorrita dolmen and we decided to visit it.

La “cotorrita” es uno de los “cinco grandes” dólmenes de la comarca de Las Loras. En realidad, hay muchos más, pero estos son los que han sido “puestos en valor” para su visita. Quizás este de La Cotorrita sea el más visitado, debido a la facilidad de su acceso.

The “cotorrita” is one of the “big five” dolmens in the Las Loras region. Actually, there are many more, but these are the ones that have been “highlighted” for your visit. Perhaps this of La Cotorrita is the most visited, due to the ease of its access.

En el momento que se emprendió su excavación, en 1969, estaba totalmente arrasado, pero en su entorno se conservaban lajas de piedra dispuestas circularmente que parecían delimitar el perímetro. El corredor estaba totalmente hundido, y fue restaurado. En su interior se localizaron gran cantidad de huesos dispersos pertenecientes al menos a 15 individuos. 

At the time of its excavation, in 1969, it was completely destroyed, but in its surroundings there were stone slabs arranged circularly that seemed to delimit the perimeter. The corridor was totally sunk, and it was restored. Inside, a large number of scattered bones belonging to at least 15 individuals were located.

El hallazgo antropológico más importante de dicho túmulo es un enterramiento en posición fetal acompañado por un cuenco liso de cerámica, localizado en el punto de encuentro entre la cámara y el corredor. Asimismo, tenía un abundante ajuar neolítico compuesto por una colección de cuchillos de sílex, un punzón de hueso y dos hachas pulimentadas de ofita.

The most important anthropological finding of this burial mound is a burial in fetal position accompanied by a smooth ceramic bowl, located at the meeting point between the chamber and the corridor. Likewise, it had an abundant Neolithic trousseau made up of a collection of flint knives, a bone awl and two polished ophthalmic axes.

El dolmen muestra la estructura de corredor estándar así como la orientación este-oeste. Ha sido recientemente restaurado (año 2018) ya que se encontraba en estado bastante desangelado. Fuente blog Tierras de Burgos.

The dolmen shows the standard corridor structure as well as the east-west orientation. It has been recently restored (year 2018) as it was in quite a soulless condition. Tierras de Burgos blog source.
