Hola una vez más.
Hi again.

An experience that you will not forget. These trips are conditioned to the situation in which the destinations are with respect to the coronavirus pandemic.

This time I show you the birds that I was able to photograph in two visits to La Mancha Húmeda. The first one was a private visit for a person who wanted to photograph birds related to this environment and who hired me on May 12th. The second was the visit that was scheduled for May 22nd.

At Alcázar de San Juan Lagoons, at the beginning of April, they released 20 Marbled Duck as a reintroduction program for this species of Duck, which is the one that is most threatened in Europe as it only has a breeding population that is less than 100 pairs.

All are conveniently ringed and some carry radio transmitters which will allow them to know their movements with greater precision.

Hopefully this initiative will prosper and help this beautiful species to recover and stop being in danger of extinction.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that among Whiskered Tern there was a White-winged Black Tern.

It is the least common Tenr of the Iberian Peninsula since it can only be seen in migration, especially in the prenuptial. It has a length of 23-27 cm. In winter plumage it can be confused with the Whiskered Tern, although it has a white rump, dark external primaries, a slightly marked hood and a dark spot behind the eye. It does not reproduce in Spain and its migraation it is occasional or scarce and seems to be conditioned to meteorological phenomena such as the existence of prevailing winds from the east for a long time. Its distribution in the breeding season is in central and eastern Eurasia. Breeds in freshwater wetlands with abundant marsh vegetation and feeds mainly on aquatic insects.

Además estaba en plumaje nupcial.
It was also in breeding plumage.

I am surprised to see so late in the spring that this male Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) was still in all its breeding plumage. In most cases at this time they have already begun to molt to eclipse plumage.

This Little Grebe kept bringing Crayfish to its chick. It had previously removed their mouths so that they would not bite the baby.

Although chick tried very hard, this Crayfish was too big for it.

In the end, the parent had to split the crab so that the chick could eat it.

VISITA ORGANIZADA EL 22 DE MAYO:
ORGANIZED VISIT MAY 20:

Este día el tiempo fue estupendo.
This day weather was great.

In the first lagoon we saw quite a few Black-bellied Sandgrouse.

Fumarel cariblanco (Chlidonias hybridus).

I'm sorry that many of the photos correspond to the same species from the previous visit but going to the same place twice is what it has. Anyway, no two photos are ever the same. In the photo a Marbled Teal.

Mochuelo europeo (Athene noctua).
We did not see this one on the previous trip. Little Owl.
