Hi again,

En esta ocasión nos vamos al Caribe. En marzo es el cumpleaños de una amiga nuestra y el mío y con tal motivo decidimos irnos a celebrarlo juntos a la República Dominicana.

This time we go to the Caribbean. March is the birthday of a friend of ours and mine. For this reason we decided to go there to celebrate together these events at the Dominican Republic.

El viaje no hubiera sido posible de no ser por la hospitalidad de unos muy buenos amigos que nos acogieron como a verdaderos hermanos en esa maravillosa tierra. Muchas gracias en nombre de todos.

The trip would not have been possible if not for the hospitality of very good friends who welcomed us like true brothers in this wonderful land. Thank you very much on behalf of all.

Como a mí no me gusta mucho la playa tuve bastante tiempo para pasear y pajarear por esos bellos parajes en busca de aves que no tengo la oportunidad de ver por España.

As I do not really like the beach I had enough time to walk and birding by these beautiful places in search of Birds that have no chance to see in Spain. 

En este viaje estuvimos en La Casa de Campo de La Romana y Jarabacoa.

On this trip we stayed at La Casa de Campo in La Romana and Jarabacoa.

A continuación os muestro algunas de las aves vistas durante estas vacaciones.

Here I show some of the birds seen during this vacations.

Cigua palmera (Dulus dominicus). Es el ave nacional de la República Dominicana. Endémica de La Española.
Palmchat. It is the National Bird of the Dominican Republic. Endemic of La Espanola.

Joven de esmerejón (Falco columbarius) con una cría de Cigua palmera (Dulus dominicus) en sus garras.

Fragata magnífica (Fregata magnificens) macho.

Garceta tricolor (Egretta tricolor).

Zumbadorcito (Mellisuga minima) de tan solo 6 cm. y 2,4 gr. es la segunda ave más pequeña del mundo.
Vervain Hummingbird of only 6 cm. and 2.4 gr. is the second smallest bird in the world.

En muchos jardines había orquídeas cultivadas.

Many gardens had grown Orchids.

Este arbusto llamó mi atención pues tenia flores pero salían de un tronco que parecía seco y sin una sola hoja.

This bush caught my attention because it had flowers but they came out of a trunk that looked dead and without a single leaf.

También había muchas especies de bromelias.

There were also many species of Bromeliads.

Este ave me gusta mucho. Se trata de un barrancolí de pico fino (Todus angustirostris).

I love this bird. It is a Narrow-billed Tody.

También acudimos a una demostración de doma de caballos de paso fino. Precioso.
