Hello again.

Llevo observando varios años que el paso de milanos negros (Milvus migrans) en la Comunidad de Madrid es muy abundante y que descansan durante la noche en determinados lugares de esta Comunidad en grandes concentraciones para al día siguiente continuar con su largo viaje.

I've been observing several years that the migration passage of Black Kites by the Community of Madrid is very abundant and who stay at night resting at certain places in this Community in high concentrations in order to continue their long journey the following morning.

Es francamente difícil captar en fotos la cantidad de aves que se pueden ver en un solo día en sus dormideros pero voy a tratar de reflejar mis observaciones.

It is very difficult to capture in photos the number of birds that can be seen in a single day in a roosting site but I will try to reflect my observations.

Este año he acudido a la cita el 19 de agosto. El día estaba un poco nublado y hacía algo de viento por lo que cuando llegué al sitio los milanos negros (Milvus migrans) ya habían comenzado a marcharse.

This year I have come to the meeting on the 19th of August. The day was a bit cloudy and had some wind so when I got to the site the Black Kites had already started to leave.

Como os comentaba, algunos ejemplares ya habían comenzado a ciclear para tomar altura y continuar su largo viaje hacia sus cuarteles de invernada en Africa.

As I said some specimens had already begun to circling to get height and continue with their long journey to their wintering quarters in Africa.

De todos modos aun quedaban muchos ejemplares posados en árboles y en el suelo.

Anyway there were still many specimens perched on trees and ground.

Iban saliendo en numerosos grupos. 

They were leaving in large flocks.

Algunos pasaban cerca de donde estábamos. En la foto un joven.

Some passed close to where we were. In the photo a Juvenile.

Más bandos ganando altura.

More flocks taking height.

Mientras que otros aun continuaban esperando a que llegase su hora.

While others were still waiting for their time to go. 

Sobre las once de la mañana no quedaba ninguno y no vimos más en toda la mañana.

About eleven o'clock there were none and we saw no other during the rest of the morning.

Continuamos el paseo y nos gustó mucho encontrarnos con este impresionante  búho real (Bubo bubo).

We continue the walk and really enjoyed watching this awesome Eagle Owl.

También vimos varios grupos de pájaros moscones (Remiz pendulinus). En la foto un joven.

We also watched several groups of Penduline Tits. In the photo a Juvenile.

Y bastantes collalbas negras (Oenanthe leucura).

And quite a few Black Wheatear.

Un joven de alcaudón común (Lanius senator).

A juvenile of Woodchat Shrike.

Aguila calzada (Aquila pennata) fase blanca.

Booted Eagle white phase.

Abejarucos europeos (Merops apiaster).

European Bee-eaters.

Y este joven macho de pato colorado (Netta rufina) y otras especies que no pude fotografiar.

And this young male of Red-crested Pochard and other species that could not shoot.
