Hi once more.
Esta vez, a petición de unos clientes, tuve la suerte de desplazarme hasta la Laguna de Callocanta para ver este bonito e importante lugar en la migración de las grullas comunes (Grus grus).
This time, at the request of some customers, I was fortunate to go to the Laguna de Callocanta to see this beautiful and important place in the migration of the Common Cranes.
Aunque no había muchas, debido a las altas temperaturas y a que la laguna estaba completamente seca, el viaje mereció la pena. Me comentaron que habría unas 1.800.
Although there were no many, due to the high temperatures and that the lagoon was completely dry, the trip was worth it. I was told there where about 1,800.
El tiempo fue seco, caluroso y soleado. Es la primera vez que no paso frío esperando la entrada de las grullas a la laguna al atardecer.
The weather was dry, hot and sunny. It's my first time I had not cold waiting for the Cranes coming into the lagoon at sunset.
En el viaje de ida tuve la suerte de ver varios mirlos capiblancos (Turdus
torquatus).
On the trip I was lucky enough to see several Ring
Ouzels.
Ya en nuestro destino este mochuelo europeo (Athene
noctua) nos observaba a nuestro paso.
Already in our destination this Little Owl watched us as we passed.
Un joven de Aguilucho lagunero occidental (Circus
aeruginosus).
A juvenile of Eurasian Marsh
Harrier.
También vimos seis avutardas comunes (Otis
tarda).
We also saw six Great bustards.
Las grullas comunes (Grus grus) estaban por los alrededores de la laguna.
Common Cranes were close to the lagoon.
Y según iba poniéndose el sol iban llegando para pasar la noche.
And as the sun was setting they arrived to spend the night.
Esta pareja tuvo suerte y ha llegado a España con sus dos crías nacidas este año.
This couple was lucky and arrived to Spain with their two chicks born this year.
Aunque no hubo mucha entrada de grullas el atardecer mereció la pena.
Although there was little entering of Cranes Sunset was worth.
Los primeros chorlitos dorados europeos (Pluvialis
apricaria) que veía este otoño.
The first European Golden Plover I saw this fall.
Las grullas ya estaban alimentándose en los sembrados cercanos a la laguna.
Cranes were already feeding on planted fields near the Lagoon.
Este pobre aguilucho pálido (Circus cyaneus) tenía una de sus patas colgando aunque le vi tirarse sobre alguna presa en varias ocasiones.
This poor Hen Harrier had one leg hanging but I saw him jumping on preys repeatedly.
Más grupos de grullas comunes (Grus grus) por los campos.
More groups of Common Cranes on the fields.
Había bastantes Cernícalos vulgares (Falco
tinnunculus).
There were quite a few Common Kestrels.
Sobre las 11 de la mañana muchas grullas decidieron continuar con su migración hacia el sur.
About 11am many Cranes decided to continue their south migration.
Fue todo un golpe de suerte estar en el lugar correcto en el momento más oportuno para verlas pasar.
It was a stroke of luck being in the right place at the right time to see them go.
Este milano real (Milvus milvus) estaba sobrevolando la zona.
This Red Kite was flying overhead.
Pero las grullas comunes (Grus grus) tenían prisa por continuar con su migración.
But Common Cranes were anxious to continue their migration.
Sobre las 12 de la mañana ya había acabado los movimientos migratorios y bastantes continuaban alimentándose.
About 12 am migratión departures were over and the rest continued feeding.
El atardecer fue maravilloso y más con el acompañamiento de la ruidosa entrada de las grullas comunes (Grus grus).
The sunset was wonderful and enriched by the loudy entry of the Common Cranes.
Hermoso, ¿no es cierto?. Aun me parece que las estou oyendo.
Beautiful, isn't it ?. Even I find that I'm still hearing them.
