En este caso os voy a enseñar algunas de las aves vistas en un viaje al Parque Natural de la Sierra de Andújar durante la Semana Santa.

In this case I am going to show some of the birds seen on a trip I made to the Parque Natural de la Sierra de Andújar during Holy Week.

El tiempo fue demasiado caluroso pues al medio día había 31º C. y el último día amaneció lloviznando y bastante frío. De todos modos tuve la suerte de observar bastantes aves rapaces si bien menos que el año pasado por estas mismas fechas.

The weather was too hot reaching at noon 31 ° c. and the last day started out drizzling and quite cold. Anyway I was lucky enough to observe several raptors although less than last year at this same dates.

Aunque es uno de los mejores lugares de España para observar al escaso lince ibérico (Lynx pardinus) no tuve la suerte de poder disfrutar de esta maravillosa especie.

Although it's one of the best places in Spain to observe the scarce Iberian lynx I was not lucky enough to be able to enjoy this wonderful specie.

Antes de salir para Andújar pude observar esta preciosa ardilla que miraba como iba a coger la furgoneta para dirigirnos a tan bello destino.

Before leaving for Andujar I observed this beautiful red squirrel that was watching how I was going to pick up the van to head to this beautiful destiny.

En una parada en el camino me llamó la atención este bonito macho de verderón común (Carduelis chloris).

At a stop along the way catched my attention this beautiful Greenfinch male.

Y nada más llegar y antes de bajar las maletas oí el característico reclamo de un águila imperial ibérica (Aquila adalberti) subadulta. Levanté la vista y allí estaba cicleando en el cielo justo encima nuestro.

And upon arrival and before lowering luggage I heard the characteristic call of a subadult Spanish Imperial Eagle. I looked up and there it was in heaven circling just above us.

Y al poco rato se le unió este macho de su misma especie con el que se entretuvo un rato haciendo la parda nupcial. La diferencia de tamaño entre el macho y la hembra era notoria. La hembra es el ejemplar de mayor tamaño.

And a little later she was joined by this male of the same specie and start performing the breeding display. The size difference between male and female was notorious. The female is the larger one.

Por la tarde me di un paseo por las inmediaciones del río Jándula y pude observar varias hembras de ciervo común (Cervus elaphus).

In the afternoon I took a walk by the river Jándula and I observed several female Red Deer.

También había algunas parejas de cogujadas comunes (Galerida cristata).

There were also a few pairs of Crested Larks.

Esta pradera estaba llena de flores. Una preciosidad.

This prairie was full of flowers. Gorgeous.

Se podían observar varios alcaudones comunes (Lanius senator). Los primeros que veía este año.

It could be observed several Woodchat Shrike. The first I saw this year.

Me llamó la atención este escarabajo aceitero (Meloe majalis).

It caught my attention this Red-striped Oil Beetle.

Y esta perca sol (Lepomis gibbosus) salto fuera del agua cuando era perseguido por un pez mucho mayor. Se trata de una especie invasora introducida de America a principios del siglo XX.

And this Pumpkinseed Sunfish jumped out of the water while being chased by a much larger fish. It is an invasive specie introduced from America at the begining of the XX century.

Por el río se veían algunos andarríos grandes (Tringa ochropus).

By the river some Green Sandpiper were seen. 

Los trigueros (Miliaria calandra) eran muy abundantes y no paraban de cantar.

Corn Buntings were abundant and did not stop singing.

Los cantuesos (Lavandula stoechas) estaban en plena floración.

The Spanish Lavenders were in full bloom.

Y cuando regresaba contemplé esta bonita puesta de sol.

And when I came back I watched this beautiful sunset.

Al día siguiente me fui por la mañana temprano al Parque Natural de la Sierra de Andújar. Está situado al noroeste de la Provincia de Jaén y consta de una superficie de 74.774 ha. con sierras alomadas  en el que predomina el bosque mediterráneo y dehesas de encina y alcornoque. Es el lugar que alberga la principal reserva del lince ibérico (Lynx pardinus) y gran cantidad de aves rapaces. En la foto un par de golondrinas comunes (Hirundo rustica).

The next day I went early in the morning to the Natural Park of the Sierra de Andújar. It's located northwest of the province of Jaén and comprises an area of ​​74,774 ha. with ridged mountains in a Mediterranean Forest where dehesas of Holm Oak and Cork Trees predominates. It is the place that houses the main reserve of the Iberian Lynx and many raptors. In the picture a couple of Barn Swallows.

Un macho de gorrión común (Passer domesticus).

Al comienzo de la excursión se pueden contemplar ganado de lidia y en este caso me recordó a la canción de "Ese toro enamorado de la luna" una antigua y bien conocida canción Española.

At the start of the tour you can contemplate Fighting Bulls and in this case reminded me of the song "This Bull in love of the moon" an old and well-known Spanish song.

También son típicos de este lugar los comederos de granito hechos para el ganado.

Also typical of this place are the granite cattle feeders.

Hermosos animales.

Beautiful animals.

En estos parajes es fácil observar a los zorzales charlos (Turdus viscivorus).

In this place it is easy to observe the Mistle Thrush.

También abundaban las tortolas turcas (Streptopelia decaocto).

Also abounded the Eurasian Collared Dove.

Y aunque hay bastantes jabalíes (Sus scrofa), éstos son más difíciles de ver.

And although there are many Wild Boar they are harder to see.

Un pinzón vulgar (Fringilla coelebs) macho.

A male Chaffinch.

A lo largo del recorrido se veían algunos alcaudones comunes (Lanius senator).

Along the route some Woodchat Shrikes were seen.

Y bastantes golondrinas dáuricas (Hirundo daurica).

And quite a few Red-rumped Swallows.

Al igual que sus parientes las golondrinas comunes (Hirundo rustica).

Like their relatives the Barn Swallows.

Un triguero (Miliaria calandra).

A Corn Bunting.

Las jaras blancas (Cistus albidus) estaban en plena floración.

The Grey-leaved Cistus were in full bloom.

Igual que las jaras pringosas (Cistus landanifer).

As well as the Gum Rockrose.

Preciosas estaban también las retamas negras (Cytisus scoparius).

Beautiful were also Common Broom.

También pude observar algunas perdices rojas (Alectoris rufa).

I could also see some Red-legged Partridges.

Y a un esquivo chochín (Troglodytes troglodytes).

And an elusive Wren.

Esta fue la zona que recorrí del Parque Natural con el Santuario de La Virgen de la Cabeza al fondo.

This was the place that I went through the Natural Park with the Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Cabeza in the background.

En el recorrido se podían escuchar muchas currucas aunque no todas estaban dispuestas a dejar fotografiarse. En la foto una curruca rabilarga (Sylvia undata).

In the route you could hear many warblers but not all were willing to be photographed. The photo shows a Dartford Warbler.

Y en esta otra una curruca cabecinegra (Sylvia melanocephala).

And in this one a Sardinian Warbler.

Antes del medio día ya hacia bastante calor y los venados se protegían en la sombra.

Before noon it was quite hot and the Red Deers were in the shade protecting from heat.

Esta águila calzada (Aquila pennata) fase clara fue la primera rapaz que vi.

This Booted Eagle white phase was the first raptor I saw.

Y al poco rato alcancé a fotografiar a algunos escribanos montesinos (Emberiza cia).

And after a while I managed to photograph some Rock Buntings.

Y enseguida empecé a ver a algunos buitres leonados (Gyps fulvus) si bien es cierto que en menor número que en otras ocasiones. Lo mismo me sucedió con los buitres negros (Aegypius monachus) que pasaron demasiado lejos para mi cámara fotográfica.

And then I started to see some Griffon Vulturesvultures while it is true fewer than at other times.The same thing happened with Monk Vultures that went too far for my camera. 

Sin embargo pude disfrutar de la presencia de ocho águilas imperiales ibéricas (Aquila adalberti) todas adultas.

However I could enjoy the presence of eight Spanish Imperial Eagles all mature.

Ya de regreso a la furgoneta pude fotografiar a este herrerillo común (Cyanistes caeruleus).

When I was returning to the van I could photograph this Blue Tit.

Y a este bonito macho de ciervo común (Cervus elaphus) que empezaba a sacar sus cuernos.

And this beautiful male of Red Deer starting to draw his horns.

En los prados mas altos vi a un par de machos de tarabilla norteña (Saxicola rubetra).

In the highest  meadows I saw a pair of males of Whinchat.

Y aunque muy lejana a esta collalba gris (Oenanthe oenanthe).

And although very far this Northern Wheatear.

Por la tarde regrese al río Jándula a darme una vuelta y me gustaron estos cuatro machos de ánade real (Anas platyrhynchos).

In the afternoon I returned to the river Jándula to take a walk and I liked these four mallards males.

Disfruté de bastantes alcaudones comunes (Lanius senator).

I enjoyed several Woodchat Shrikes.

Al igual que de varias cogujadas comunes (Galerida cristata).

As same as with some several Crested Larks.

Un grupo de rabilargos ibéricos (Cyanopica cookii) bajó a beber al río.

A group of Azure-winged Magpie went down to the river to drink.

Al día siguiente me dí otro paseo y pude ver muchos trigueros (Miliaria calandra).

The next day I gave another ride and I could see many Corn Buntings.

Y a este subadulto de águila imperial ibérica (Aquila adalberti).

And this subadult of Spanish Imperial Eagle.

Y una bonita sorpresa al ver a tres ejemplares de cigüeña negra (Ciconia nigra).

And a nice surprise to see three specimens of Black Stork.

Tambien vi algunos buitres leonados (Gyps fulvus).

I also saw some Griffon Vultures.

Y en menor número buitres negros (Aegypius monachus).

And a lesser number of Monk Vultures.

Y estos eran los primeros abejarucos europeos (Merops apiaster) que veía en esta temporada.

And these were the first European Bee-eater I saw this season.

También se podían ver algunas garzas reales (Ardea cinerea).

I could also seen some Grey Herons.

Este fue el único cuco común (Cuculus canorus) que pude fotografiar aunque vi muchos.

This was the only Common Cuckoo that I could photograph although I saw many.

Y el último día antes de regresar a Madrid vi a este macho de gamo común (Dama dama).

And the last day before returning to Madrid I saw this male of Fallow Deer.

El día amaneció lloviznando y muy oscuro. Esta curruca cabecinegra (Sylvia melanocephala) se estaba bañando en las gotas de lluvia que tenían las hojas de las encinas. 

The day started drizzling and very dark. This Sardinian Warbler was bathing in the rain drops that had the leaves of the Holm Oaks.

Y para que me fuese con muy buen sabor de boca de este bello lugar vi a esta águila pescadora (Pandion haliaetus) aunque con tan mala luz que no pude obtener mejor foto.

And to let me with a good memory of this wonderful place appeared this Osprey with such a bad light that I could not get a better photo.
