Próximos viajes. Next trips.

Hola de nuevo.
Hi again.

A client hired me to see if he could photograph the White-throated Dipper. With this target I choosed the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park, in which is not difficult to spot but optaining good photographs of them is another thing that is much more difficult.

In the end we were very lucky because we found a copy that was not very elusive and after a very slow and laborious approach we could take nice photos, especially he who had better photographic equipment than mine.

Before arriving at my chosen place we were able to contemplate some Citril Finch. This male was the closest we had.

And also this beautiful European Nuthatch.

As I was saying, after the approach we started taking pictures of the White-throated Dipper. These correspond to the dips that they do in order to obtain food. Mostly they catch crustaceans and in lesser extent small fish.

They are the only flying Birds that have solid bones which makes their diving work easier.

In this one with a not so small fish. He was a while giving him hits against stones before swallowing it.

After a while the bird got used to us and he came to 7 meters from where we were. It is a wonder to be able to watch this species from so close observing as it looks restlessly for its preys and with the ease with which it moves between the current.

Preciosa ave.
Beautiful Bird.

After two hours enjoying his presence we decided that he was already well photographed and we continued with the excursion. He also had told me that he had never seen Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and he was excited to see them.

While looking for the aforementioned we saw other birds like this Long-tailed Tit.

Y algunos agateadores europeos (Certhia brachydactyla).
And some Short-toed Treecreeper.

Although it took us a while to spot it, at the end we saw a female of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker.

Male will be for another trip.

And while coming back to the Capital we enjoyed a flock of 39 Ruddy Shelducks.

Hasta pronto.
See you soon.
