El blog de esta semana es sobre una visita al paso prenupcial de las grullas comunes (Grus grus) en la laguna de Gallocanta. Desde mediados de febrero hasta principios de marzo es la época en la que se juntan más ejemplares de esta especie en dicha laguna. El censo de la semana de la visita se contabilizaron 60.090 grullas comunes (Grus grus). No está nada mal.

The blog of this week is about a visit to the prenuptial passage of Common Cranes in the Lagoon of Gallocanta. From mid-February to early March is the time when most specimens of this specie gather at this Lagoon. The census of the week of the visit was of 60,090 Common Cranes. It's not bad at all.

El primer día había niebla pero el segundo lucio el sol aunque el viento hizo que el frío fuese intenso.

The first day was foggy but the second was sunny although wind made this day very cold.

Las fotos del segundo día se realizaron desde uno de los hides que que existen en la laguna. Es impresionante ver y sobre todo oír a estas aves tan de cerca.

The photos of the second day were taken from one of the hides that exist in the Lagoon. It is awesome to see and especially hear these birds so closely.

En el camino vimos un grupo de Jabalíes (Sus scrofa). Eran varias hembras con jabatos.

On the way we saw a group of Wild Boars. They were several females with piglets.

Zorzal charlo (Turdus viscivorus).

Mistle Thrush.

Este rebaño de ovejas nos hicieron esperar un poco pero mereció la pena.

This herd of Sheeps made us wait a bit but it was worth it.

Y también vimos bastantes escribanos soteños (Emberiza cirlus).

And we also saw many Cirl Buntings.

Ya en nuestro destino lo primero que vimos fue e este macho de aguilucho pálido (Circus cyaneus).

Already in our destiny the first thing we saw was this male of Hen Harrier.

Había muchas grullas comunes (Grus grus) como era de esperar. Fue una pena que hiciese algo de niebla y no hubiese mucha visibilidad.

There were many common cranes as expected. It was a shame that was a foggy day  and we had a poor visibility.

Esmerejón (Falco columbarius).

Hubo una impresionante entrada de grullas comunes al atardecer pero entre la niebla y lo tarde que entraron me dedique a observar el evento pues la cámara de fotos no servia para nada.

There was an impressive input of Common Cranes at sunset but because fog and that they came very late I decided to observe the event as the camera was useless.

A la mañana siguiente estábamos en el hide a las 6:30 de la mañana y así lucia la luna.

The next morning we are in the hide at 6:30 am and so looked the moon.

Después de un rato comenzaron a salir las grullas comunes (Grus grus) de la laguna.

After a while Common Cranes began to leave the Lagoon.

El amanecer y la salida fueron espectaculares. No hizo mucho frío pero a media mañana se levantó el viento y la sensación térmica dentro del hide era muy baja.

Sunrise and crane departure were spectacular. It wasn't very cold but by midmorning the wind and the chilly factor inside the hide was very low.

El tiempo iba pasando y era espectacular verlas y oírlas tan de cerca.

Time was passing and it was great to see and hear them so closely.

También se acercaron esta corneja negra (Corvus corone)

They also approached this Carrion Crow

y este zarapito real (Numenius arquata).

and this Eurasian Curlew.

Y los protagonistas de este blog continuaban llegando.

And the protagonists of this blog continued arriving.

La primera parada nupcial que pudimos observar. La danza de las grullas.

En total saque unas 800 fotos y me ha sido tremendamente difícil elegir cual os mostraba.

In total I took 800 photos and it has been extremely difficult to choose which one I show to you.

Lavandera blanca (Motacilla alba).

Vimos varios ejemplares anillados.

We saw several specimens ringed.

Se ve que la anilla de este joven le queda muy estrecha o que le habían hecho daño al anillarle.

You can appreciate that the ring of this juvenile is too smal or that it was injured while been ringed.

Cogujada común (Galerida cristata).

Aun me parece estar oyéndolas.

It seems I can still hearing them.

Anades azulones (Anas platyrhynchos).

Por la tarde empezaron a llegar grullas y por la altura a la que venían me imagino que serían nuevas incorporaciones de aves en paso.

In the afternoon Cranes began to arrive and because of the height they carried I imagine they would be new additions to the migrating Birds.

Avefrías europeas (Vanellus vanellus).

Northern Lapwings.

Estorninos negros (Sturnus unicolor).

Spotless Starlings.

Sobre las cinco de la tarde no quedaba ninguna en los hides pero se podían ver grandes bandos por los alrededores de la laguna.

About five o'clock of the afternoon there was none close to the hides but it could see large flocks by the surroundings of the lagoon.
