This summer I spent a few days relaxing in the province of Cadiz and I have visited quite a few places birding in this part of the Spanish Peninsula.

I have decided to separate my tales into two parts as they would be too many pictures and places for a single post.

In this first part I show the Strait of Gibraltar, both from land and from the sea, La Janda and a few photos of the scarce Northern Bald Ibises.

Northern Bald Ibises.

Thanks to Proyecto EREMITA jointly developed by the Consejería de Madio Ambiente of Andalucía and the Zoobotanico de Jerez they proceeded to the reintroduction of this specie in the province of Cadiz with a creditable success. It is one of the most endangered species on the Planet because only two wild populations exist one in Morocco, the largest, and a small one in Syria.

A day I decided to take a morning walk and what was my surprise when I find in the sky a group of 23 ibis. As they approach I realize that they were the Northern Bald Ibises that I did not have found in one of their breeding places.

As I saw that they had not landed too far I decided to continue with the walk to see if I was lucky and I had it.

Here I leave you some photos of these rare Birds that seem not to have much fear of humans. As you can see they are all ringed. Juveniles are the ones that have feathers on the head. I hope you enjoy as much as I did with this sighting.
