BIRDING PICOS DE EUROPA


Hola una vez más.
Hi again.

Como os habréis imaginado por el título de la entrada este viaje es un resumen de algunas aves vistas en el Parque Nacional de Picos de Europa pues tuve unos clientes que querían ver aves alpinas y nos fuimos tres días a este maravilloso enclave de la geografía Española.
As you may have guessed by the post title this trip is a summary of some birds seen at the Picos de Europa National Park because I had some customers for Alpine Birds and went three days to this wonderful enclave of the Spanish geography.

El tiempo no fue del todo malo aunque el día de la llegada incluso nos llovió a última hora de la tarde.
The weather was not too bad although the day of arrival rained late in the afternoon.


En un descanso en el camino de ida hacia Picos hicimos una parada en Piedrasluengas y pudimos ver a esta culebrera europea (Circaetus gallicus).
In a break on the way to Picos we stopped at Piedrasluengas and we could see this Short-toed Eagle.


Y un alimoche común (Neophron percnopterus).
And this Egyptian Vulture.


La niebla impedía ver las impresionantes vistas que hay desde éste lugar de los Picos de Europa.
The fog prevented see the breathtaking views from this place of the Picos de Europa


Ya dentro del Parque lo primero que nos llamó la atención fue esta silueta. Que suerte poder contemplar a un quebrantahuesos (Gypaetus barbatus) al poco rato de comenzar el paseo.
Once inside the Park first thing that caught our attention was this silhouette. Lucky to see a Lammergeier so soon.


Poco después nos sobrevoló este alimoche común (Neophron percnopterus).
Shortly after flew over us this Egyptian Vulture.



Y también regresó el quebrantahuesos (Gypaetus barbatus).
And also returned the Lammergeier.




Y continuando con nuestro paseo pudimos observar a esta lavandera cascadeña (Motacilla cinerea).
And continuing our walk we saw this Grey Wagtail.


Lavandera blanca (Motacilla alba).
White Wagtail.


Pardillo común (Carduelis cannabina).
Linnet.


Roquero rojo (Monticola saxatilis).
Rock Thrush.



Colirrojo tizón (Phoenicurus ochruros9 macho.
Black Redstart male.


Un precioso y manso escribano cerillo (Emberiza citrinella) macho.
A beautiful and meek male of Yellowhammer.




Preciosas vistas.
Beautiful views.





Macho de alcaudón dorsirrojo (Lanius collurio).
A male of Red-backed Shrike.


Busardo ratonero (Buteo buteo).
Common Buzzard.


Carbonero palustre (Poecile palustris).
Marsh Tit.




Que pena, en la cuneta de la carretera nos encontramos con esta marta común (Martes martes) recién atropellada.
Alas, on the side of the road we find this European Pine Marten that was just been hit.


Chova piquigualda (Pyrrhocorax graculus).
Yellow-billed Chough.



La mayoría de ellas están anilladas.
Most of them are ringed.

El día siguiente amaneció con algo de niebla y viento.
The next day dawned with some fog and wind.


Los buitres leonados (Gyps fulvus) comenzaron temprano su búsqueda de carroña.
Griffon Vultures began their search of carrion very early.






Bisbita alpino (Anthus spinoletta).
Water Pipit.

El deseado y esperado gorrión alpino (Montifringilla nivalis).
The desired and expected Snow Finch.





Estuvieron un buen rato en busca de insectos para sus crías.
They were for a while searching insects for their young.


Otra visita de un quebrantahuesos (Gypaetus barbatus).
Another visit from a Lammergeier.


Había muchas collalbas grises (Oenanthe oenanthe). En la foto un joven.
There were many Northern Wheatears. In the pic a juvenile.


Un precioso acentor alpino (Prunella collaris).
A lovely Alpine Accentor.


Un macho de rebeco cantábrico (Rupicapra rupicapra).
A mael of Cantabrian Chamois. 



El más buscado por Picos de Europa, el treparriscos (Tichodroma muraria).
The most searched by Picos de Europa, the Wallcreeper.



Jóvenes de chova piquigualda (Pyrrhocorax graculus).
Juveniles of Yellow-billed Chough.


Un grupo de rebecos cantábricos (Rupicapra rupicapra).
Agruoup of Cantabrian Chamois.


Y todos estos avistamientos rodeados por unas vistas únicas.
And all these sightings surrounded by a unique views.


Los acentores alpinos (Prunella collaris) estaban muy atareados buscando insectos para sus pollos.
Alpine Accentors were very busy searching insects for their chicks.





Un poco de todo.
A little bit of everything.


Más rebecos cantábricos (Rupicapra rupicapra) pasaron cerca nuestro. Hembras con sus crías.
More Cantabrian Chamois passed close by. Females with their calfs.




Cuando sacamos la comida enseguida se presentaron las chovas piquigualdas (Pyrrhocorax graculus) pero se marcharon enseguida al ver que no conseguían nada.
When we take out the lunch the Yellow-billed Chough appears right away but quickly left when they did not getting anything.





Y otra vez pudimos disfrutar de los treparriscos (Tichodroma muraria).
And we could again enjoy the Wallcreepers.

Este mosquito se fue.

Me gustan mucho el colorido de los cardos panicales (Eryngium bourgatii).
I really like the color of the Mediterranean Sea Holly.

Me gustaron las flores de esta planta suculenta la uña de gato (Sedum acre).
I liked the flowers of this succulent plant the Wall Pepper.


Y al final del día estos buitres leonados (Gyps fulvusnos entretuvieron con sus cercanos vuelos.
And at the end of the day these Griffon Vultures entertained us with their flybys.


El tercer día amaneció sin nubes. Vista de Peña Vieja.
The third day dawned cloudless. View of Peña Vieja.

Y de nuevo otros gorriones alpinos (Montifringilla nivalis).

Ya de regreso a Madrid vimos a este busardo ratonero (Buteo buteo).
On the way back to Madrid we saw this Common Buzzard.


Y a este otro ejemplar de fase más clara. En la parte inferior izquierda un roquero rojo (Monticola saxatilis).
And this other specimen of a clearer phase. In the lower left a Rock Thrush.

E hicimos otra parada en el mirador de Piedrasluengas. Los Picos de Europa al fondo.
And we made another stop at the viewpoint of Piedrasluengas. The Picos de Europa in the background.

Había algunos ejemplares de culebrera europea (Circaetus gallicus).
There were some specimens of Short-toed Eagles.






Y un alimoche común (Neophron percnopterus).
And a Egyptian Vulture.
