Hello again.
Llevaba tiempo queriendo subir a Peñalara a ver si podía ver a los acentores alpinos (Prunella collaris) y aprovechando unos días de buen tiempo y antes de estas últimas lluvias decidí subir a probar suerte.
There was some time I wanted to go to Penalara to see if I could observe Alpine Accentor. At the begining of January before this last snows, the weather was mild so I decided to go and try luck.
Al final no tuve suerte y no los vi pero me encontré con algunas otras aves que me entretuvieron mucho y lo que más me gustó fue un nutrido grupo de verderones serranos (Serinus
citrinella).
At the end I was not lucky and did not see them but I found some other birds that entertained me a lot and what I liked more was a large group of Citril Finches.
Había nubes altas y la luz era algo escasa para las fotos pero la temperatura era maravillosa y no hacia nada de viento.
There were high clouds and the light was somewhat sparse for photos but the temperature was wonderful and there was no wind at all.
Durante la subida al circo glaciar de Peñalara pude observar varias parejas de cuervos (Corvus
corax).
During the climb to the glacial cirque of Penalara I could see several pairs of Ravens.
Y también algunas parejas de cornejas negras (Corvus
corone).
And also some pairs of Carrion Crows.
Se podían ver bastantes fringílidos volando y posándose en los pinos. En la imagen unos verderones comunes (Carduelis
chloris) y pinzones vulgares (Fringilla
coelebs).
You could see many finches flying and perching in the Pines. Pictured Greenfinches and Common Chaffinches.
Y muy abundantes los piquituertos comunes (Loxia
curvirostra).
And very abundant Common Crossbills.
Entre los pinares se podían ver a los trepadores azules (Sitta
europaea) en busca de alimento.
Among the pine forest there could be seen European Nuthatches searching for food.
También había bastantes pinzones vulgares (Fringilla coelebs).
There were also quite a few Common Chaffinches.
Y cuando menos me lo esperaba llego un buen bando de verderones serranos (Serinus
citrinella) que se puso a alimentarse en unos pinos. Toda una suerte haber coincidido con ellos pues se pusieron a cantar y a comer bastante cerca de donde yo estaba.
And when least expected a group of Citril Finch arrived and began to feed on pine trees. I had very much luck to have coincided with them and they began to sing and eat pretty close to where I was.

Mientras esperaba a ver si podía encontrar los acentores alpinos (Prunella collaris) observe como varios buitres negros (Aegypius
monachus) sobrevolaban la zona.
While waiting to see if I could find the Alpine Accentors I observe as several Monk Vultures over flying the area.
En mi espera vi a esta persona arriesgando la vida debajo de esta cornisa de nieve con unas temperaturas muy altas y con posibilidad de que se le viniese encima. Esto no se debe hacer o eso me parece a mí.
In my wait I saw this person risking its live under this snow cornice with very high temperatures and the possibility that might come down. This should not be done or so it seems to me.
La Laguna Grande de Peñalara no estaba enteramente helada pues las temperaturas en los primeros días de enero habían sido altas para esta época del año.
La Laguna Grande de Penalara was not entirely frost as temperatures in early January had been high for this time of year.
Aunque ya había visto varios ejemplares de piquituerto común (Loxia curvirostra) este fue el que más cerca había visto hasta este momento.
Although I had already seen several Common Grossbill this was the closest I had seen so far.
Después de bajar de Peñalara decidí parar en el aparcamiento de Guadarrama para ver si podía ver los acentores alpinos (Prunella collaris) por los alrededores. No tuve suerte con los acentores pero volví a ver varios Piquituertos comunes (Loxia curvirostra).
After descending from Penalara I decided to stop at Guadarrama parking to see if I could see alpine accentors by the sorroundings. No luck with accentors but I saw several Common Crossbills.
Al poco rato vi una pareja de carboneros garrapinos (Periparus
ater) que me acompañaron durante un buen rato.
Soon afterwards I saw a pair of Coal Tits who accompanied me for a while.
Mientras uno se daba un buen baño,
While one was taken a bath,
el otro esperaba pacientemente a que acabase su pareja.
the other waited patiently for him to finish his partner.
Y más piquituertos comunes (Loxia curvirostra) que se estaban alimentando con la sabia de las agujas de los pinos.
And more Common Crossbills that were feeding with the of pine needles sap.
Y aunque ya había visto algunas familias de herrerillos capuchinos (Lophophanes
cristatus) esta fue la primera que pude fotografiar.
Although I had already seen some other families of Crested Tits this was the first that I could photograph.
